How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Drawing on your background as a qualified accountant and your understanding of the challenges faced by accountancy firms, you'll combine customer insight, technical expertise and commercial thinking to define product strategy, develop roadmaps and identify opportunities for innovation. Working closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders across the business, you'll help create and evolve solutions that meet customer needs, leverage modern SaaS delivery models and strengthen Mercia's position in the market.
If you're excited about building products that solve real customer challenges and want to influence the future direction of a market-leading compliance offering, we'd love to hear from you!
Please note: To complete your application, you will be redirected to Wilmington plc’s career site.
At Wilmington plc, we celebrate individuality and are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace. As a Disability Confident employer, we shortlist all applicants who meet the essential role criteria and guarantee an interview for candidates with disabilities who meet these criteria. Our Product Manager is responsible for shaping the strategy, performance and evolution of Mercia's methodology, compliance and advisory product portfolio. Working closely with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams, you'll ensure our products remain commercially successful, aligned to customer needs and responsive to regulatory change, while identifying opportunities to enhance customer value through innovation, AI and emerging technologies.
    You'll be responsible for:
    • Define and deliver the product strategy and roadmap for Mercia's methodology and advisory portfolio.
    • Own products throughout their lifecycle, from concept and launch to ongoing improvement and optimisation.
    • Use customer insight, market trends and regulatory developments to shape product direction.
    • Explore opportunities to leverage AI, automation and emerging technologies to enhance customer value.
    • Work closely with stakeholders, subject matter experts and technology partners to bring ideas to life.
    • Monitor product performance and identify opportunities to drive growth, engagement and retention.
    • Support pricing, proposition development and go-to-market activity.
What's the Best Thing About This Role
You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of a well-established portfolio that's trusted by accountancy firms across the UK, while helping shape its future direction.
Working with our subject matter experts, you'll influence everything from product strategy and pricing through to software partnerships and innovation, ensuring our methodology and advisory products continue to evolve with customer needs.
You'll also have the chance to play a key role in exploring how AI and emerging technologies can enhance our products and customer experience.
What’s the Most Challenging Thing About This Role
You'll be balancing technical accuracy, regulatory change, customer needs and commercial performance across a portfolio of products and services.
You'll need to quickly build a deep understanding of our methodology and offering and identify where there are opportunities for improvement.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
    • A professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, ICAS or equivalent) and audit experience.
    • Experience managing or developing methodology, compliance, advisory, technical support or information-based products.
    • Knowledge of SaaS products and subscription-based business models.
    • The ability to translate customer needs and regulatory requirements into practical product solutions.
    • Experience creating product roadmaps, prioritising initiatives and managing competing demands.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams.
    • A customer-focused mindset, supported by sound commercial awareness and decision-making.
To be successful in this role, it would be great if you have:
    • Experience implementing AI-enabled solutions or digital transformation initiatives.
    • Experience using customer insight, market research or product analytics to inform product decisions.
    • Strong presentation and communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
We know it’s not a skill, but the successful candidate must have permission to work in the role’s location by the start of their employment.
