How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are working for an established Principal Contractor who are seeking an experienced Site Manager (Mechanical or Electrical) to join them on a permanent basis, to oversee the successful delivery of projects across the North East and be part of an upcoming critical infrastructure project in Newcastle.

The initial project involves a combination of electrical, mechanical and civil engineering works, including UPS and battery installations, LV switchgear, new chillers, cooling infrastructure, pipework and associated external works. This role will involve taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site, working closely with our Project Management team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Oversee day-to-day site operations across mechanical and electrical engineering projects.

    * Manage subcontractors, site personnel, and project activities.

    * Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

    * Monitor project progress, schedules, and resource requirements.

    * Liaise with clients, engineers, and project management teams.

    * Identify and resolve site-related issues to maintain project delivery.

    Requirements:

    * Previous experience as a Site Manager on M&E or critical infrastructure project, ideally data centres or similar live environments.

    * SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications.

    * A good understanding of CDM regulations and Principal Contractor site requirements.

    * Experience managing multiple subcontractors across electrical, mechanical and civil engineering disciplines.

    * Confidence managing site inductions, RAMS, permits to work and daily site safety.

    * Experience coordinating deliveries, site logistics, access arrangements and work sequencing.

    * Good communication and organisational skills, including maintaining site records, progress updates and reporting to the Project Manager

An excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering organisation delivering projects within the UK, offering long-term career development and the chance to work on technically challenging projects.
