The Business Development Engineer position is available in Manningtree, Essex, for our client, a specialist manufacturer of composite machinery and pultruded profiles. With over 50 years of manufacturing experience and an international customer base, the company is looking for a technically minded individual to maintain existing customer relationships, identify new business opportunities and support the ongoing development of its pultruded profile products.
This role would suit someone with a background in composites engineering or chemistry who enjoys combining technical knowledge with customer engagement and business development.
Business Development Engineer Job Overview
Maintain and develop relationships with existing customers while identifying new business opportunities.
Provide technical support and product specification advice for pultruded profiles, including resin formulations and their mechanical, physical and environmental properties.
Liaise with the design team on tooling design and support the development of new profile products.
Assist with product specifications and technical information for new and existing profiles.
Work closely with the Production Manager to support production planning and the delivery of existing and future customer requirements.
Liaise with the financial control team to maintain pricing for stock profiles and calculate costs for new projects.
Support marketing activities and represent the business at exhibitions.
Prepare written and verbal reports for customers and colleagues at all levels of the business.
Report directly to the Managing Director and contribute to the continued development of the profiles business.
Business Development Engineer Job Requirements
A background in composites engineering or chemistry would be advantageous.
Strong technical understanding and the ability to communicate product specifications and technical information to customers.
Experience in customer relationship management, business development or technical sales would be beneficial.
Good commercial awareness, with the ability to support product pricing and project costing.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with customers and internal departments.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
A valid driving licence and passport, with the ability to undertake overseas travel when required.
Full eligibility to work in the UK.
Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical examination.
