How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Planned Works Surveyor / Building Surveyor

    £40,000–£46,000 + £5,500 Car Allowance | Home-Based | Travel Covered

Location: Regional coverage across Hertfordshire, and the East of England.
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

    The Opportunity

My client is seeking a proactive Planned Works Surveyor to oversee planned works, property maintenance and compliance activities across a diverse regional portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced property professional looking for a varied, autonomous role offering a competitive salary, a generous car allowance, covered business travel and support with professional development.

Recruitment is urgent, and suitable candidates are being considered as soon as possible.

    What’s on Offer?

    *

£40,000–£46,000 basic salary, depending on experience, qualifications and training.

    *

    £5,500 annual car allowance.

    *

Home-based working with flexibility to manage your own diary.

    *

Business travel expenses and overnight accommodation covered where required.

    *

Support towards relevant qualifications and training, including NEBOSH training to support fire risk assessment reviews.

    *

A varied role with opportunities to develop your technical expertise and take ownership of regional projects.

    Key Responsibilities

As a Planned Works Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

    *

Coordinating planned maintenance, investment works and void programmes.

    *

Undertaking stock condition surveys, property inspections and planned works surveys.

    *

Assessing, specifying and overseeing major repairs, ensuring quality, value for money and timely delivery.

    *

Reviewing existing Fire Risk Assessments and monitoring remedial actions.

    *

Carrying out asbestos management re-inspections, identifying changes or damage and escalating concerns to the compliance team.

    *

Managing contractor performance and supporting procurement, budgets and contract administration.

    *

Maintaining accurate property and compliance records.

    *

Working collaboratively with repairs, compliance, health and safety and asset management teams.

The role typically combines two to three days visiting properties with administrative and coordination work, depending on workload. Three days on site per week are expected, alongside regular regional travel and occasional overnight stays.

    What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you’ll have experience in property surveying, social or supported housing, property maintenance, planned works or building compliance. Previous experience as a Planned Works Surveyor would be particularly relevant.

    You’ll also need:

    *

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

    *

    An enhanced DBS check.

    *

A surveying or construction-related qualification at HNC level or above, or willingness to work towards one.

    *

CIH Level 3 and Fire Risk Assessment Level 3, or willingness to work towards these qualifications.

    *

Knowledge of property inspections, repairs and residential health and safety compliance.

    *

Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.

Experience with contractor management, budgets, procurement or property management systems such as Plentific would be advantageous.

Not all qualifications in place? My client is open to candidates willing to work towards the relevant qualifications, subject to the role’s requirements.

    Location

This is a home-based position covering properties across London, Peterborough, Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, North Yorkshire, Lincoln and Grimsby.

Candidates based around Peterborough, Leicester, Northampton, Bedford, Cambridge or surrounding areas may be particularly well placed for the regional travel involved.
