How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and specialist professionals, you will follow agreed support plans while encouraging the pupil to make choices, take part in class discussion and build positive relationships with peers. You will also support safe movement and transitions around school without creating unnecessary dependence.

This role would suit someone who is patient, observant and interested in specialist SEND support. Previous visual impairment experience is highly valuable, although strong comparable classroom support experience and a willingness to develop specialist skills may also be considered.

    Key Responsibilities

Provide focused 1:1 support to help a pupil access lessons and school activities.

Prepare enlarged print and accessible digital resources in line with staff guidance.

Describe visual information clearly and support the use of assistive technology.

Support safe movement and transitions while encouraging independence.

Encourage participation in group activities and positive interaction with peers.

Follow individual support plans and agreed safety procedures consistently.

Share observations with teachers and the SENCO to help review and adapt support.

    Requirements

Previous experience as a Visual Impairment Teaching Assistant or in comparable classroom/SEND support.

Experience supporting children or young people with additional learning needs.

Confidence adapting resources and explaining visual information clearly.

Ability to follow individual support plans and agreed safety procedures.

Good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.

A patient, observant approach with a strong focus on developing pupil independence.

The right to work in the UK and willingness to complete an enhanced DBS and other safeguarding checks.

    What the School Offers

Purposeful 1:1 work with a strong focus on access and independence.

Guidance from teachers, the SENCO and relevant specialist professionals.

Opportunities to develop skills in accessible resources and assistive technology.

Varied work across lessons, school activities and the wider school environment.

A part-time schedule of 15 hours per week.

H3–H4 pay according to experience and the schools applicable grading arrangements.
