How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    DTC | A Codan Company is currently recruiting for DSP Engineers at Mid, Senior and Principal level.

    About us

    DTC, A Codan company, operates in fast growing markets offering innovative and robust wireless security products, leading-edge IP centric network devices, and C4I application software solutions, along with high performance wireless broadcast systems for all industries.

    Our passion for innovation keeps us one step ahead in the rapidly changing and increasingly challenging environments within which we perform, whether on the battlefield, in the streets of our cities, or at the world's largest sporting events.

    High performance IP Video, communications, and broadcast systems enable our customers to securely monitor, control, communicate, and share information with confidence in complex environments and in the most demanding situations.

    What You Will Be Doing

    Reporting to the Embedded Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering advanced embedded communications solutions within DTC’s high-performing engineering team based in Whiteley.

    As a Digital Signal Processing Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing mission-critical wireless systems for defence and secure communications applications. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing advanced DSP algorithms, as well as developing bespoke waveforms tailored to specific operational requirements.

    Additionally, you will contribute to the continuous refinement and optimisation of our Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms, ensuring they deliver exceptional performance, flexibility, and resilience across diverse and demanding environments.

    Key Areas of Experience (Essential):

    * Algorithm Development – Design, implement, and validate advanced DSP algorithms using Python and/or MATLAB.

    * Some experence working on design or development of products featuring FPGA or Embedded Software

    Key Areas of Experience (Desirable):

    * FPGA Development – Develop high-performance FPGA modules for DTC’s SDR platforms.

    * HDL Design – Proficient in VHDL/Verilog and scripting with Tcl for FPGA design workflows.

    * FPGA Toolchains – Experience with Xilinx and Altera (Intel) development environments and toolchains.

    * Waveform Design & Development experence

    * Embedded Software Engineering – Skilled in C/C++ programming for embedded systems, including Linux driver development and Windows-based applications; familiarity with UML is advantageous.

    * RF Systems Design – Strong understanding of RF design principles with practical implementation experience.

    * Test & Measurement – Competent in using frequency-domain and time-domain test equipment, such as spectrum analysers and oscilloscopes.

    About You

    You are a highly capable and motivated engineer with a degree in Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a closely related discipline. You have a strong foundation in digital signal processing and embedded systems, with proven experience designing and implementing advanced DSP algorithms for high-performance applications.

    Ideally, your expertise extends to RF design principles, and you demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative approach. You thrive in technically complex environments and are committed to delivering innovative, high-reliability solutions for mission-critical communications.

    As a senior member of the team, you take pride in mentoring and supporting junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and capability development across the group.

    This is an office-based role but has flexability for some home working and requires the successful candidate to meet the eligibility criteria for UK Security Clearance.

    Benefits and Culture

    Our culture is supportive and collaborative. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team where we share our ideas and innovation is strongly encouraged. We are looking for someone with genuine passion for the job and a “can-do” attitude.

    Our employees receive:

    * 25 days annual leave plus Bank holidays

    * A generous pension plan, company match up to 9%.

    * Company bonus scheme

    * Annual pay reviews (discretional)

    * A personal approach to training and development

    * Employee Assistance Program

    * Income protection

    * Life assurance

    * Flexible core working hours.

    * Open plan, modern office environment

    * Onsite subsidised café

    Enjoy working as part of a global organisation with teams in Whiteley, Hampshire; USA; Denmark, Singapore; Dubai and Australia.

    DTC is committed to promoting a culture that supports personal development and embraces a diverse mix of employees throughout all levels of the organisation.
