About the Role
Teach Now is seeking an experienced Year 5 Class Teacher to take full responsibility for a Year 5 class at a supportive primary school in Ealing.
This is a genuine class teacher role rather than a cover position. You will plan and teach across the full Year 5 curriculum, use assessment to guide next steps and establish clear routines and high expectations for learning, behaviour and presentation.
The school has two Year 5 classes, so you will work closely with a partner teacher and wider Key Stage 2 team on planning, resources and pupil progress. You will also build positive relationships with families through regular communication, parents evenings and end-of-year reporting.
The role would suit an experienced teacher who is confident taking ownership of a class while contributing positively to collaborative planning. Experienced overseas-trained teachers and teachers returning to the classroom are welcome, provided they meet the role requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and teach engaging lessons across the full Year 5 curriculum.
Adapt teaching to meet different learning needs and levels of attainment.
Use assessment to identify gaps, address misconceptions and plan next steps.
Maintain a calm, purposeful classroom with clear expectations for behaviour and learning.
Complete pupil progress information and accurate end-of-year reports.
Work closely with the partner Year 5 teacher and deploy support staff effectively.
Communicate professionally with families and attend meetings, training days and parents evenings.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised route to teach in England.
Substantial classroom teaching experience beyond the first two ECT years.
Experience planning and teaching across Key Stage 2.
Strong knowledge of assessment, adaptive teaching and pupil progress.
Confident classroom and behaviour management.
The right to work in the UK and willingness to complete an enhanced DBS and other safeguarding checks.
