How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We're recruiting a Field Service Engineer to install, service and repair medical and care equipment used in healthcare and care environments. This is a hands-on, field-based engineering role offering training, development and opportunities to build your technical expertise.

We welcome applications from trainee, apprentice-qualified and experienced engineers with electrical, mechanical, automotive, maintenance, plumbing, HVAC or similar technical backgrounds.

Please note: This role involves travel across the UK and occasional overnight stays away from home, with accommodation and expenses covered.

    What You'll Be Doing

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing and inspections on medical and care equipment

Installing, assembling and commissioning equipment, including profiling beds and air pressure mattresses

Performing fault-finding, diagnostics and repairs appropriate to your experience

Supporting installations and more complex technical repairs where required

Collecting and delivering equipment when necessary

Completing digital service reports and maintaining accurate service records

Managing tools, van stock and equipment, while maintaining high standards of health and safety

Providing professional, customer-focused support at hospitals, care homes and other customer sites

Equipment includes profiling beds, air pressure mattresses (APMs), assisted baths, hoists, scales and plinths.

    What We're Looking For

Trainee or experienced Field Service Engineers from an electrical, mechanical, automotive, maintenance, plumbing, HVAC or related technical background

A practical, hands-on approach with good fault-finding and problem-solving skills

A willingness to learn new equipment and technologies, or existing field service experience

Good communication skills and a professional approach to customer service

    A full UK driving licence

Based within approximately 25 miles of Bishop's Stortford

Flexibility to travel throughout the UK and stay away overnight when required

Previous medical equipment experience is beneficial but not essential.

    Salary & Benefits

Basic salary of £28,350-£34,350, depending on experience

    Company van provided

Paid door-to-door, based on a 40-hour working week

    Bonus scheme following successful probation

    Overtime opportunities

23 days' annual leave, increasing to 28 days with length of service, plus bank holidays

    Pension scheme

Accommodation and expenses covered for overnight stays

Healthcare and wellbeing support, including GP and mental health access

Team rewards, lunches, incentives and regular team meetings

    Training & Career Development

Trainee engineers will receive training and support from experienced colleagues, with opportunities to develop their skills in equipment servicing, installation, fault-finding and repairs. Experienced engineers can bring their existing technical knowledge to a varied role with opportunities for further development.

    There is no on-call requirement.
