How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client, a specialist engineering organisation in the aerospace sector, is seeking a Technical Project Manager for a permanent role. The organisation designs, manufactures, integrates and supports complex test systems, including automated test equipment, avionics test systems, data acquisition and control systems, production test equipment and specialist maintenance platforms.
This is an opportunity to lead multidisciplinary engineering projects from customer kick-off through design, manufacture, integration, acceptance, commissioning and warranty completion. Acting as the primary customer interface, you will combine strong project management capability with sufficient technical understanding to engage confidently with engineers, customers and delivery partners.

    Key Responsibilities:

Lead complex aerospace engineering and test-system projects throughout the full delivery lifecycle.
Act as the primary customer contact, managing communications, expectations, reviews, escalations and acceptance activities.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, production, procurement, quality, finance and support functions.
Develop and maintain integrated project plans covering work breakdown structures, resources, schedules, milestones, risks and quality requirements.
Manage project scope, costs, forecasts, risks, issues, changes, recovery activities and contractual milestones.
Ensure projects progress through appropriate requirements, design, verification, validation and governance reviews.
Support change control, commercial negotiations, claims management, bid preparation and proposal development.
Coordinate subcontractors, international partners, installation, commissioning, factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing.

    Job Requirements:

Experience in project management within engineering, aerospace, defence, technology or equipment-delivery environments.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams within a matrix organisation.
Strong customer-facing, stakeholder-management, communication and presentation skills.
Technical understanding of electrical, electronic, software-controlled or electromechanical systems.
Knowledge of engineering lifecycles, including requirements, design, manufacture, integration, verification, validation and acceptance.
Experience managing project scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality and configuration control.
Commercial awareness, including change control, contract management and margin protection.
Strong organisational skills, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Flexibility to travel to project locations, a full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.

    Desirable Experience:

Experience with Automated Test Equipment, avionics test systems or test-system integration.
Background in aerospace, defence, space, rail, energy or another regulated industry.
Knowledge of systems engineering, requirements management and formal design-gate processes.
Experience of fixed-price contracts, contract changes, claims management or delayed project recovery.
Experience coordinating multi-country projects, subcontractors or international delivery partners.
Relevant project management qualification or experience involving technical leadership, engineering management, logistics or equipment support.

    Benefits:

    Annual performance bonus.
    Enhanced pension contribution scheme.
Private healthcare and health cash plan.
27 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
    Cycle-to-work scheme.
Exposure to complex and technically challenging aerospace projects.
Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
If you are an experienced Technical Project Manager with a background in complex engineering delivery and a passion for aerospace technology, apply now to take on a key role within a growing specialist organisation
