How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Role – Senior Landscape Architect - Education, Delivery & Nature-Based Design

    Location – Newcastle upon Tyne

    Salary – £40 - £55K DOE

Lead Careers are working with an award-winning landscape architecture consultancy in Newcastle upon Tyne that is looking for a talented Senior Landscape Architect to join its friendly and growing team. This is a great opportunity to join a practice that genuinely cares about the landscapes it creates, the people who use them and the team behind the designs.

The company works on a fantastic range of projects across the UK, with a particular focus on schools, colleges and universities, alongside public realm and regeneration schemes. Their work covers everything from early design concepts through to detailed design and construction, with sustainability, biodiversity and nature-based solutions playing a big part in what they do.

They're also an employee-owned business, which means everyone has a say in how the company develops and can share in its success. It's a supportive, collaborative environment where good ideas are encouraged and there are plenty of opportunities to progress.

    THE ROLE

They're looking for a Senior Landscape Architect who enjoys getting involved in all aspects of a project, from coming up with creative design ideas to seeing them brought to life on site. You'll be working on some really interesting education and public sector projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors and clients to create attractive, practical and sustainable landscapes. There's plenty of variety in the role, with opportunities to take ownership of projects, develop your technical skills, support more junior colleagues and play an important part in the continued growth of the practice.

    SENIOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    * Taking the lead on landscape projects from initial design through to construction

    * Working closely with architects, engineers and contractors to deliver high-quality schemes

    * Bringing sustainable design ideas into projects, including SuDS, BNG and nature-based solutions

    * Preparing and reviewing landscape drawings, planning information and technical packages, including LVIA and UGF inputs

    * Supporting and mentoring junior landscape architects

    * Getting involved in bids, project proposals and developing new ways of working

    * Building good relationships with clients and attending project meetings

    ABOUT YOU

    * Ideally, you'll be a Chartered Landscape Architect (CMLI) with at least 3 years' post-chartership experience and a good mix of design and technical delivery skills

    * Experience working on education, university or public sector projects would be particularly useful, although the most important thing is having the confidence to manage projects and work well with others

    * Good design, technical detailing and project coordination skills

    * An understanding of sustainable landscape design and environmental considerations

    * Confidence communicating with clients and other design professionals

    * Experience with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite. Revit would be a bonus, although training is available

    * A full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK

    ON OFFER

    * Salary - £40 - £55K DOE

    * 33 days' holiday including bank holidays.

    * Flexible working and half-day Fridays

    * Private healthcare including dental and optical cover

    * Employer pension contributions

    * Electric and hybrid car salary sacrifice scheme

    * Relocation support of up to 5% of salary for eligible candidates.

    * Funded training, CPD and professional development

    * Opportunities to attend conferences and industry events

    * Team visits to inspiring landscape projects across the UK and Europe

    * Genuine opportunities to progress into leadership and management roles

This is a great opportunity to join a business where you'll be valued, supported and encouraged to develop your career. You'll get to work on some genuinely interesting projects, have a real influence on the designs being delivered and be part of a team that takes pride in what it does.

For a Senior Landscape Architect looking for a friendly, ambitious practice with a good variety of work and plenty of room to grow, this could be a really exciting next step.
