How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Commercial Gas Engineer – Service & Installation
    £45,000–£50,000 + Excellent Benefits | Company Van | 8% Employer Pension
Location: M4 Corridor & Projects Further Afield

Are you an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer looking for a new opportunity offering a competitive salary, excellent benefits and a varied mix of service, maintenance and installation work?

We're recruiting for an expanding business looking to add an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong commercial gas background and mechanical installation experience to join a growing company with a busy pipeline of work and genuine opportunities for career development.

You'll work across the M4 corridor and further afield, with projects in locations including London, Cardiff, Reading and Newbury. Engineers based around Oxford, Reading or Swindon would be ideally positioned, although applications from experienced engineers in surrounding areas are also welcome.

    The Role
This is a varied position combining commercial gas servicing, planned maintenance, reactive breakdowns and installation projects.

You'll primarily cover the M4 corridor for service and maintenance work, alongside commercial heating and mechanical installation projects further afield. Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on project locations.

    Key Responsibilities

Servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial gas and heating systems.
Diagnosing faults and carrying out reactive breakdown repairs.
Installing commercial gas and heating systems.
Undertaking mechanical installation work, including pipework, pump sets and associated plumbing and heating systems.
Working across a variety of commercial sites and projects.
    Participating in a shared out-of-hours call-out rota.
Travelling to sites across the region and further afield, with occasional overnight stays where required.
    What We're Looking For

Ideally, at least five years' post-qualification experience in commercial gas engineering.
Strong experience in commercial gas servicing, maintenance and breakdowns.
Experience with commercial heating and mechanical installations.
Good knowledge of pipework, pump sets and associated plumbing and heating systems.
The ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work.
Flexibility to travel and occasionally stay away overnight.
    Salary & Benefits

£45,000–£50,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
Company van and fuel card, including personal use.
Paid door-to-door travel time in the morning, travelling from home to site.
Additional paid travel time for the journey home, based on distance from the office:

Within 20 miles: no additional paid travel time.
    20–30 miles: 30 minutes paid.
    30–40 miles: 1 hour paid.
Over 40 miles: 1.5 hours paid.

Enhanced overtime at 1.6x for out-of-hours work.
Call-out payments at 2.5x your hourly rate, with a minimum payment of four hours per call-out.
1-in-6 call-out rota, with no standby allowance and generally a low frequency of call-outs.
20 days' annual leave, plus your birthday off and bank holidays, with additional leave earned through length of service.
8% employer-funded pension contribution, with no personal contribution required.
Career development opportunities within a growing business.
    Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a growing business with a strong pipeline of commercial projects, a varied workload and the chance to become a key member of the team.

Alongside a competitive salary, you'll benefit from a company van for personal use, paid morning door-to-door travel, enhanced overtime and call-out rates, and an excellent employer-funded pension.

The business is looking for an experienced engineer who can contribute to its continued growth, support the existing team and help deliver its expanding workload across service and installation.
