How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Client

Our client is an established specialist contractor operating within the commercial fit-out and refurbishment sector, delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of clients across the UK.

With an established reputation within the industry and continued ambitions for growth, they are looking to strengthen their Business Development function with the appointment of a Business Development Coordinator.

    The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, commercially minded individual to join a specialist construction business in a varied role combining business development, client engagement, bid coordination and marketing.

Working directly alongside the Business Development Director, you will help identify and develop new business opportunities, build relationships with prospective clients and support the preparation of bids, tenders and proposals.

The position offers a high degree of flexibility, with predominantly remote working and regular opportunities to get out on the road meeting clients and developing relationships.

The successful candidate will ideally be based in Essex, working closely with the Business Development Director, who is also based locally. There will be occasional visits to the company's satellite office in Central London, alongside infrequent travel to its Head Office.

The role will suit someone who enjoys both the relationship-building and organisational aspects of business development, with the opportunity to become increasingly involved in the company's wider sales and growth strategy.

Researching and identifying prospective clients, partners and new business opportunities

    *

Developing and maintaining a strong pipeline of potential projects

Reviewing tender documentation and identifying submission requirements and deadlines

    *

Preparing bid plans, programmes and action trackers

    *

Liaising with internal departments to gather technical, commercial and operational information

    *

Preparing, editing and formatting professional bid and proposal documentation

    *

Maintaining libraries of case studies, company information and supporting bid content

    *

Assisting with marketing campaigns and business development initiatives

    *

Producing presentations, brochures and company capability statements

    Qualifications & Experience

    *

Previous experience within Business Development, Sales Coordination, Bid Coordination, Marketing or a similar role

    *

Experience within construction, commercial fit-out, refurbishment or a related sector would be highly advantageous

Excellent written communication and presentation skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

    *

Commercial awareness and an interest in developing new business opportunities

    *

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
