How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Client: My client is a growing building services consultancy with a team of around 20 people, delivering a good mix of commercial and residential projects. Their workload is split roughly 50/50 between client-side and contractor-led projects, giving engineers the chance to work across a varied portfolio and gain well-rounded experience.
Despite their growth, they've kept a close-knit, supportive culture where everyone is approachable and there's plenty of opportunity to learn from experienced engineers and directors. They have a strong leadership team in place, regular monthly socials, and a genuine focus on helping people develop their careers. With the business continuing to grow, they're now looking to bring a Principal Electrical Design Engineer into their London office.
    Role: Principal Electrical Design Engineer - £65,000 - £75,000 + Benefits
You'll be involved in the design and delivery of electrical building services projects from initial concept through to construction. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of commercial and residential schemes while developing your technical knowledge and taking on increasing responsibility as your experience grows.
This is a great opportunity to join a consultancy that's growing rapidly, offers plenty of variety in its workload, and provides a supportive environment where your career progression is genuinely encouraged.
    Role & Responsibilities
    * Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services projects.
    * Produce detailed design and technical information packages in line with project programmes.
    * Develop practical and innovative engineering solutions tailored to client requirements.
    * Coordinate closely with architects, structural engineers, sustainability consultants, and wider design teams.
    * Attend client and project meetings as a representative of the business.
    * Utilise industry-standard software including CAD, Revit, and BIM platforms.
    * Carry out engineering calculations and performance assessments to support design decisions.
    * Support and mentor junior engineers where required.
    * Assist in the successful delivery of projects through all key design stages.
    The ideal candidate:
    · 5 years + experience as a Electrical Design Engineer.
    · Ideally have a HNC or HND and good technical knowledge of Electrical design services.
    · Experience working in the commercial sector
    · Have the right forward-thinking attitude
    In Return They Offer
    * A healthy and diverse pipeline of work across multiple sectors.
    * Exposure to innovative and sustainability-focused projects.
    * Genuine opportunities for career progression and professional development.
    * The chance to work on technically challenging and high-profile developments.
    * Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
    * The opportunity to join a growing consultancy with an excellent reputation within the industry
