How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Pastoral Support Mentor - Islington - £110-£145 per day - Long Term - Mainstream Secondary School - ASAP Start After Half Term

Pastoral Support Mentor required for the London Borough of Islington
Pastoral Support Mentor required for a long-term role starting ASAP after half term
Pastoral Support Mentor required with experience supporting students with pastoral and behavioural needs
Previous experience working within a secondary school is desirable

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and develop positive relationships in education?

Do you have experience working with students who display challenging behaviour or require additional pastoral support?

Would you like to make a positive difference within a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school?

If so, this Pastoral Support Mentor opportunity could be the perfect role for you.

The Role - Pastoral Support Mentor

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Islington is seeking to appoint a dedicated Pastoral Support Mentor to join its pastoral support team on a long-term basis, starting ASAP after half term.

As the successful Pastoral Support Mentor, you will work closely with students across KS3 and KS4, providing one-to-one and small-group support to help students manage their behaviour, improve their wellbeing and remain engaged with their education.

You will support students who may experience social, emotional or behavioural difficulties, helping them develop positive relationships, improve their confidence and make appropriate choices throughout the school day. You will also help identify barriers to learning and implement strategies to encourage positive behaviour, regular lesson attendance and engagement in the classroom.

Working closely with teaching staff, Heads of Year, pastoral teams and senior leadership, you will contribute to behaviour interventions, mentoring sessions and strategies designed to improve students' attitudes towards learning. You may also support students during unstructured times, help resolve conflicts and encourage successful reintegration into lessons following behavioural incidents.

Previous experience within a pastoral or behaviour-focused role is essential. Experience working within a mainstream secondary school would be advantageous, particularly supporting students with challenging behaviour, social and emotional needs or difficulties engaging with education.

The successful candidate will be patient, resilient and approachable, with strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people. You will be confident managing challenging situations calmly, maintaining professional boundaries and encouraging students to take responsibility for their behaviour.

The School - Pastoral Support Mentor

This welcoming mainstream secondary school in Islington is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential. The school recognises the importance of pastoral care, positive behaviour and student wellbeing in supporting academic progress.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Pastoral Support Mentor to join a dedicated school team and play an important role in improving student behaviour, engagement and personal development.

Apply today to be considered for this exciting Pastoral Support Mentor role in Islington. Interviews and trial days are taking place immediately for an ASAP start after half term
