How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the role
Are you looking for real, structured progression and the support to become chartered?
Join a well-established and growing firm of consulting engineers in Yorkshire, with genuinely exciting projects, a clear route to chartership and flexible working. They have plenty of long-standing employees who have developed and progressed to senior level, and Twenty Twenty Consulting Ltd is recruiting on their behalf.
    Salary negotaible depending on expereince.
A varied design and site role for a civil engineer with a few years' experience, built around drainage design, who wants to grow technically and work towards chartership. You will deliver defined design packages on development and infrastructure projects, working closely with project managers and senior engineers, with plenty of client contact along the way.
This is a combined design and site role, with most sites located across Yorkshire and Lancashire. Drainage design is at the heart of the work, alongside highways, levels and earthworks.
Drainage is the key requirement. You do not need to be proficient in every other area: if you have less experience in highways, levels or earthworks, training and support will be given to build your skills across the wider role.
Hybrid working: you choose how many days you work from home, the Leeds office and the Cross Hills office (near Keighley), with a minimum of one day a week in Cross Hills.
    What you will be doing
    • Feasibility, concept and detailed design on infrastructure projects, including drainage, SuDS, highways, levels and earthworks
    • Producing calculations, drawings and specifications
    • Owning defined design packages to scope, programme, budget and quality
    • Liaising with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
    • Supporting and mentoring technicians and junior staff where appropriate
    • Developing your skills against ICE requirements on the route to IEng or CEng
    What you will bring
    • 2:1 degree in a relevant subject, HND+2 or equivalent
    • Typically 2-5+ years' experience in drainage and infrastructure design, with drainage as your core strength
    • Familiar with Civil 3D and MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage
    • Knowledge of highways design (S38, S278) and development infrastructure is an advantage, with training given
    • Working knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 is helpful
    • Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills
    • Motivated to become ICE qualified
    What is on offer
    • Salary of £30,000 - £40,000, depending on experience
    • Pension that rises with length of service, up to 10% after 10+ years
    • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday
    • Hybrid working across Leeds, Cross Hills and home
    • On-site parking at the Cross Hills office
    • Pool van available (over 25s)
    • Employee assistance programme and employee engagement programme
    • Annual pay reviews
    • Clear route to progression and professional development
