How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the School

CCS are seeking a passionate, dedicated and child-focused Science Teacher to join a specialist SEN school where every student is supported to reach their full potential.

The school supports students with a range of additional needs, with most students having Autism and some also presenting with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are looking for a teacher who understands that every child learns differently and is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where students feel valued, supported and able to succeed.

    The Role

As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging General Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, adapting your teaching to meet the individual needs, abilities and learning styles of your students.

You will break down complex scientific concepts into manageable steps, making learning accessible, meaningful and enjoyable. Through patience, creativity and a flexible approach, you will help students develop their scientific knowledge, build confidence and achieve their potential.

Building positive relationships will be at the heart of this role. We want someone who takes the time to understand each student as an individual, recognises their strengths and challenges, and adapts their approach to help them feel safe, included and ready to learn.

You will maintain high expectations for all students while recognising that progress looks different for everyone.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Plan and deliver engaging General Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.

    *

Differentiate learning to support students with a range of abilities and additional needs.

    *

Adapt teaching strategies to support students with Autism and SEMH needs.

    *

Break down complex concepts into clear, manageable and accessible learning activities.

    *

Create a calm, structured and inclusive classroom where students feel safe and supported.

    *

Build positive relationships with students, helping them develop confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.

    *

Promote emotional wellbeing and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.

    *

Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement while providing appropriate support.

    *

Monitor student progress and adapt planning to meet individual learning needs.

    *

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and colleagues to ensure consistent, effective support.

    Essential Requirements

    *

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

    *

Experience planning and delivering Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.

    *

Strong subject knowledge across General Science.

    *

Experience differentiating lessons for learners with different abilities and needs.

    *

A child-centred approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting students' individual development.

    *

The ability to build trusting relationships and create a positive learning environment.

    *

Patience, resilience, flexibility and a nurturing approach.

    *

High expectations and a belief that every student can make progress when given the right support.

Experience working within an SEN setting, particularly with students with Autism and/or SEMH needs, would be highly beneficial.

    The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be more than a strong Science teacher. They will be someone who genuinely cares about the children they teach and understands the importance of getting to know each student as an individual.

You will be confident adapting your teaching, thinking creatively and finding different ways to engage learners who may have experienced challenges with education. You will celebrate progress, however small, while encouraging students to challenge themselves and recognise what they are capable of achieving.

Above all, you will have the children's best interests at heart and be committed to helping them develop academically, emotionally and socially.

If you are a qualified Science Teacher who wants to make a genuine difference in a specialist SEN setting, we would love to hear from you
