How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a varied role offering autonomy, job satisfaction and the opportunity to make a genuine difference to residents and communities. You’ll be responsible for ensuring domestic gas systems are safe, compliant and operating efficiently, delivering excellent service while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer care.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Maintain a high first-time fix rate while ensuring all work meets required quality, safety and compliance standards.

    * Carry out gas safety checks, servicing and compliance inspections in line with current legislation and industry regulations.

    * Support void property works, ensuring gas installations and systems are safe, compliant and ready for re-let.

    * Complete remedial works, repairs and system upgrades as required.

    * Accurately complete PDA job sheets and associated documentation, ensuring all work is recorded promptly and correctly.

    * Deliver excellent customer service when working in residents’ homes, communicating professionally and treating every property with respect.

    * Manage your workload independently, prioritising jobs effectively to meet service targets and customer expectations.

To be successful in this role, you’ll be an experienced Domestic Gas Engineer who takes pride in delivering safe, efficient and high-quality work.

    You’ll ideally have:

    * Proven experience in domestic gas repairs, servicing and maintenance, ideally within social housing, property maintenance or voids.

    * Relevant gas qualifications, including CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1 and CKR1.

    * Additional qualifications in G3, LPG, oil or air source heat pumps (ASHP) would be advantageous.

    * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with a focus on achieving a high first-time fix rate.

    * Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work sensitively in occupied homes.

    * The ability to work independently, organise your workload and manage your time effectively.

    * Confidence using handheld devices and PDAs to manage jobs and complete reports.

    * A full, clean UK driving licence. Minor motoring convictions will be considered.

    What We Offer

We believe in rewarding our colleagues, supporting their development and creating opportunities to build a long-term career.

    Our benefits package includes:

    * Competitive salary up to £37,000, depending on experience.

    * Company van and fuel card.

    * £20 per month BYOD allowance.

    * 23 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays.

    * Colleague referral scheme offering up to £2,000.

    * Long-service awards recognising commitment and loyalty.

    * Perkbox benefits, including free coffees, cinema tickets, retail discounts and wellbeing offers.

    * One paid volunteering day each year.

    * Ongoing training, development and career progression opportunities.

    * A supportive team environment, with a strong commitment to promoting from within.
