How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a new-build student accommodation development in central Dundee, which is approaching completion.

Brought in as an additional member of the site management team, you will play a key role in driving subcontractors, trades and labour through the final stages of the project, ensuring outstanding works are completed, quality standards are maintained and the development is handed over on schedule.

This is a hands-on, fully site-based role suited to a Site Manager with a strong background in residential construction, internal finishing, QA and snagging.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Drive subcontractors, trades and labour to maintain progress and achieve completion deadlines.

    *

Oversee internal finishing works, quality assurance, snagging and defect rectification.

    *

Coordinate subcontractor activities and ensure outstanding works are prioritised and completed efficiently.

    *

Monitor workmanship and ensure all works meet the required quality standards and specifications.

    *

Identify and resolve issues affecting progress, quality and handover.

    *

Work closely with the existing site management team to drive the project towards timely completion and handover.

    *

Support additional weekend working where required to maintain programme and maximise progress.

    Candidate Requirements

    *

Proven experience as a Site Manager on new-build residential projects, ideally apartments, student accommodation or similar multi-unit developments.

    *

Strong experience overseeing internal finishing, fit-out, QA, snagging and remedial works.

    *

A trade background in carpentry, joinery, plastering or a similar discipline would be highly advantageous.

    *

Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors, trades and labour during the final stages of construction.

    *

A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to drive progress, maintain standards and work to tight deadlines.

    *

Valid SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certificates.

    *

Asbestos Awareness certification would be beneficial but is not essential.

    The Opportunity

    *

    Immediate start available.

    *

    Ongoing freelance assignment.

    *

Circa £300 per day, negotiable depending on experience.

    *

Predominantly Monday–Friday working, with potential additional weekend work.

    *

Opportunity to join a major student accommodation development in central Dundee and play a key role in its successful completion.

If you're an experienced Site Manager with a strong residential finishing background and the ability to drive subcontractors towards handover, we'd like to hear from you
