How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Senior Social Worker – Families First Contact and Protection (FFCP)

    Location: Catford, London
Pay Rate: £39.04 per hour (Umbrella)
    Service Area: Children's Social Care

    About the Role

We are currently recruiting an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the innovative Families First Contact and Protection (FFCP) service based in Catford, London.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary team dedicated to improving outcomes for children and families through relationship-based, strengths-based and trauma-informed practice.

You will play a key role in assessing the needs of children and families, identifying safeguarding concerns and determining the most appropriate level of support. Using the Family Help Continuum of Need, you will help ensure families receive timely, proportionate interventions, whether through statutory services or community-based resources.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Screen and assess incoming contacts using the service's RAG rating system.

    * Undertake triage, gather relevant information and complete Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) checks.

    * Conduct family visits and comprehensive Family Help assessments to identify needs, strengths and risks.

    * Make informed professional decisions regarding safeguarding concerns, risk and the need for statutory intervention.

    * Develop and coordinate effective multi-agency support and intervention plans.

    * Work collaboratively with children, parents, carers and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

    * Apply restorative, trauma-informed, anti-racist and Signs of Safety approaches.

    * Produce high-quality assessments, reports and case records within required timescales.

    * Contribute to a collaborative service that reduces duplication and ensures families receive consistent, coordinated support.

    Essential Requirements

    * A recognised Social Work qualification.

    * Current registration with Social Work England.

    * Significant experience within children's social care and safeguarding services.

    * Experience conducting comprehensive assessments and managing complex cases.

    * Strong knowledge of child protection, children in need and children looked after.

    * Experience working within a MASH, referral, contact or assessment service.

    * Excellent report-writing, communication and analytical skills.

    * The ability to make sound professional judgements and develop effective multi-agency plans.

    * Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a busy, multidisciplinary environment.

Knowledge of the Family Help Continuum of Need and experience of front-door children's services would be advantageous.

    What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, resilient and committed to safeguarding children and supporting families. You will demonstrate professional curiosity, balanced decision-making and a solution-focused approach, while building positive relationships with families from diverse backgrounds.

You will be confident managing competing priorities, working collaboratively with partner agencies and ensuring that children receive the right help at the right time.

    Pay and Benefits

    * Competitive pay rate of £39.04 per hour (Umbrella).

    * Opportunity to work within an innovative children's social care service.

    * Collaborative, multi-disciplinary working environment.

    * Opportunity to contribute to progressive, family-centred social work practice.

Mandatory: Must have a UK Passport or a Full Right to Work in the UK
