How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Building Surveyor
    Leeds
Due to continued growth, we're looking for a Building Surveyor to join an established and growing team in Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious consultancy with a strong pipeline of work and a varied client base across the education, commercial, industrial and wider property sectors.
The team provides a full range of building surveying services, supporting clients throughout the property lifecycle, from acquisition and occupation through to maintenance, refurbishment and disposal.
You'll work alongside an experienced team of Building Surveyors, gaining exposure to a broad range of professional and project-related work, with the opportunity to develop your technical skills and progress towards chartership.

    The Role

You'll be involved in delivering a varied workload across both professional and project-based building surveying, working with clients and colleagues to ensure projects are delivered effectively and to a high standard.
    Responsibilities will include:

Carrying out building surveys, inspections and site investigations.
Identifying building defects, analysing their causes and preparing technical reports.
Assisting with the preparation of specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation.
Supporting the design and delivery of refurbishment, repair and maintenance projects.
Assisting with contract administration and site supervision.
Preparing schedules of dilapidations and supporting negotiations on settlements.
Advising clients on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of buildings.
Supporting planned maintenance programmes and preparing cost estimates.
Working alongside other disciplines on larger, more complex projects.
Maintaining effective communication with clients, contractors, consultants and colleagues.
Producing accurate reports and project documentation to the required standard.
Representing the business professionally and helping to develop client relationships.

    About You

You'll be a motivated and organised Building Surveyor looking to develop your career within a supportive consultancy environment.
    Ideally, you'll have:

A relevant degree in Building Surveying, preferably RICS accredited.
A genuine interest in developing your technical knowledge and progressing towards chartership.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive approach, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with knowledge of AutoCAD, NBS and other surveying software beneficial.
The ability to work independently when required, while contributing effectively as part of a team.
A professional and personable approach to dealing with clients.
    A full UK driving licence.

    Career Development

The business is committed to supporting the development of its Building Surveyors, with structured support towards becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor through the national APC process and guidance from the local team.
You'll gain exposure to a wide range of projects, work alongside experienced professionals and have the opportunity to build the technical and client-facing skills needed to progress your career.
