The Company
A multi award-winning, privately owned Main Contractor delivering high-quality construction projects across the UK. They have built long-term partnerships with some of the UK’s leading developers, occupiers and end users, and a large share of their work comes from repeat business. The business is on a journey of rapid and sustained growth, currently delivering projects typically ranging from £20m to £100m.
Projects are delivered on a new-build, refurbishment and fit-out basis across a broad range of sectors, including data centres, life sciences, commercial, industrial, retail, leisure and residential.
The Role
This is a senior pre-construction role based in the West Midlands, reporting into the Pre-Construction Director. You’ll sit above the proposals team as its construction expert and go-to knowledge base, shaping how bids are developed and making sure every submission is technically robust, competitive and well presented.
Typical duties will include:
* Leading and supporting the proposals team on new bids, providing the technical input behind methodology, programme, logistics, buildability and risk
* Developing bid-winning strategies, value propositions and solutions, alongside commercial assessment and risk management
* Coordinating input from planning, estimating, design, commercial and operations teams to produce high-quality, accurate submissions
* Managing the bid process in line with bid management procedures and corporate governance, so every submission has the best possible chance of success
* Mentoring and developing the proposals team, sharing construction knowledge so the team grows in capability
* Building strong relationships internally and with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
What we’re looking for
* A strong construction background in operations, design management, estimating or planning, with significant tender-stage experience
* A proven track record on competitive tenders with a main contractor
* The ability to explain construction clearly and practically to non-technical colleagues, such as bid writers and coordinators
* Experience leading, mentoring or managing people
* A degree or HNC/HND in a construction-related discipline is preferable. MCIOB, MRICS or equivalent would be an advantage.
Benefits
A competitive package including a car allowance, bonus, pension, private healthcare, fuel card, holiday, and more. You’ll join a well-established, privately owned contractor with a strong pipeline and a supportive, people-focused culture
