How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Greys Specialist Recruitment are working with an established business to recruit a Supply Chain & Procurement Co-Ordinator to join its purchasing team at its site in Carrington, Trafford.

Reporting to the Group Purchasing Manager, this is a varied role combining purchasing, supplier management and day-to-day supply chain coordination. You will play an important part in ensuring materials and services are available when needed, deliveries arrive on time and stock levels are maintained to support business operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous purchasing or supply chain experience who enjoys working with suppliers, solving problems and keeping processes running efficiently within a manufacturing or similar environment.

    The Role

Working closely with the Purchasing Manager and teams across the business, your responsibilities will include:

    * Coordinating the purchasing of raw materials, consumables and services to meet operational and production requirements.

    * Obtaining supplier quotations, reviewing pricing and delivery timescales, and supporting negotiations to secure competitive terms.

    * Building and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers, monitoring service levels and helping to resolve delivery, quality and pricing issues.

    * Monitoring stock levels and material availability to support production schedules and minimise shortages or excess inventory.

    * Liaising with suppliers, logistics partners, warehouse and production teams to coordinate deliveries and resolve stock discrepancies.

    * Supporting demand planning and forecasting to ensure purchasing activity aligns with business requirements.

    * Maintaining accurate purchasing, supplier and stock records using internal systems and Microsoft Excel.

    * Preparing reports on purchasing activity, stock levels and supplier performance, highlighting potential issues and opportunities for improvement.

    * Supporting supplier approval processes and maintaining documentation in line with company procedures and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.

    * Contributing to cost-saving initiatives, waste reduction and continuous improvement projects.

    * Assisting with ERP/MRP system improvements and ensuring purchasing processes remain accurate and efficient.

    * Supporting internal and external audits, attending meetings and undertaking occasional UK or international supplier visits where required.

    About You

We are looking for an organised and commercially minded individual with previous experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain coordination, ideally within a manufacturing, engineering or similar operational environment.

You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, communicating with suppliers and internal departments, and taking a proactive approach to resolving issues.

    You should also have:

    * Experience in purchasing, supplier coordination or supply chain operations.

    * A good understanding of procurement processes, stock control and delivery coordination.

    * Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, with the ability to maintain and interpret data accurately.

    * Experience using an ERP, MRP or purchasing system.

    * Good communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

    * Strong attention to detail and the ability to organise your workload effectively.

    * A practical approach to continuous improvement and cost efficiency.

Knowledge of Incoterms and experience supporting ISO compliance or supplier audits would be advantageous. A relevant qualification, such as CIPS or a degree in procurement or supply chain management, would also be beneficial but is not essential.

    The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join an established business in a varied purchasing and supply chain role, working closely with an experienced Group Purchasing Manager and contributing to the smooth running of day-to-day operations.

The position offers a salary of £29,500 per annum + Bonus, a permanent contract and a Monday-to-Friday working pattern, with an earlier finish on Fridays.
