How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The role offers exposure to a diverse range of projects, including healthcare and public sector developments, alongside specialist entertainment and leisure schemes. You will initially work alongside a senior colleague, receiving hands-on guidance and training before gradually taking ownership of your own projects.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor Salary & Benefits:

Salary of £40,000-£50,000, depending on experience.

    Hybrid working

Structured support towards chartership, including APC guidance, regular reviews and access to a wider APC support network.

Direct mentoring from an experienced senior professional.

Opportunity to gain experience across a varied and unusual project portfolio.

Clear scope to develop professionally and take on greater responsibility as your experience grows.

    Assistant Quantity Surveyor Job Overview:

You will support the delivery of quantity surveying and cost consultancy services across a range of projects, working closely with a senior colleague on live commissions. The initial focus will be on developing your existing consultancy experience while building your knowledge of specialist project sectors. As your confidence and technical ability develop, you will be encouraged to take greater ownership of individual projects, with ongoing support and training available.

    The role will include:

Supporting the delivery of cost consultancy and quantity surveying services across multiple projects.

Assisting with pre-contract cost planning, estimating, procurement and tender documentation.

Supporting the preparation and review of cost reports, budgets and project financial information.

Assisting with post-contract cost management and commercial administration where required.

Liaising with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders.

Monitoring project costs and helping ensure budgets and financial objectives are maintained.

Working across healthcare, public sector, entertainment, leisure and specialist attraction projects.

Attending project meetings and site visits as required, including occasional travel elsewhere in the UK.

Developing the skills and experience required to manage projects more independently over time.

Structured APC support and regular progress reviews.

    Assistant Quantity Surveyor Job Requirements:

A minimum of one year's experience in a quantity surveying or cost consultancy role.

A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

Experience within a consultancy environment, ideally with exposure to pre-contract work.

A sound understanding of quantity surveying principles and the commercial aspects of construction projects.

Strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.

A proactive attitude, with a genuine interest in learning and developing professionally.

The ability to work collaboratively within a team while gradually building confidence and independence.

A willingness to travel to sites across the UK when required.

An interest in working towards MRICS status, with APC support available.

Previous experience in healthcare, entertainment or leisure projects would be advantageous but is not essential, as training will be provided in specialist sectors.

This opportunity would suit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who already has a grounding in consultancy and is looking for a role where they can build on that experience, receive close mentorship and progress towards managing their own projects.
