How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you an experienced project Project Manager?
    Would you like to be involved with some of the UK's biggest energy upgrade projects?
    Are you a strong stakeholder manager who can manage multidisciplinary engineering teams?

    Project Manager (Project Based)

    Lead major construction projects at the heart of the energy transition
    Join a major UK energy business helping shape the North West's low-carbon future.

    With over 800 colleagues, we offer a safety-focused, technically challenging environment and strong opportunities for development.

    The Role

    As Project Manager, you'll lead a team of multidisclipline engineers and inspectors, overseeing EPC construction delivery and contractor performance while ensuring projects meet safety, quality, cost and programme requirements.

    You'll provide construction and constructability input from design through commissioning, working within a complex COMAH-regulated, high-hazard environment.

    Key responsibilities

    As a Project Manager, you will play a key role in delivering major capital investment projects that support our operational and strategic growth ambitions. Reporting to the Head of UK CAPEX Project Delivery, you will lead the safe, efficient and predictable delivery of complex projects and work packages, initially supporting enabling activities for HPP1 and CHP. Working across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, you will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Following the initial assignment, you may support other strategically important CAPEX projects across the business.

    You will:

    * Lead CAPEX projects and work packages from scope definition through construction, completion and handover.

    * Manage engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities to achieve safe, successful project outcomes.

    * Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure effective project execution.

    * Drive performance against key objectives, including safety, schedule, cost, quality and delivery readiness.

    * Establish work front readiness by securing permits, materials, access requirements and stakeholder approvals.

    * Manage project interfaces across operational assets, engineering teams, contractors and wider business programmes.

    * Own project controls, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, opportunity and change management.

    * Provide visible leadership in office and site environments, promoting safety, collaboration and accountability.

    * Ensure compliance with HSSE, process safety, governance and assurance requirements.

    * Support the successful delivery of future priority CAPEX projects across the business.

    About You

    * Significant experience delivering major CAPEX projects in refining, energy, power, hydrogen, chemicals or other high-hazard industrial environments.

    * A degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management or a related discipline; chartered status or a recognised project management qualification is advantageous.

    * A proven track record managing complex brownfield modifications, infrastructure projects, utilities and construction activities on operational sites.

    * Strong understanding of project controls, including cost forecasting, scheduling, risk management and change control.

    * Leadership experience managing EPC contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.

    * Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all organisational levels.

    * Strong commercial awareness and experience managing contractor and supplier performance.

    * A delivery-focused, decisive approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

    * The highest standards of HSSE and process safety, with the confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours.

    * The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, with a commitment to continuous improvement and project excellence.

    What we offer

    * Competitive salary

    * 10% pension contribution, rising to 15% with service

    * 25 days' holiday, increasing with service

    * Private medical insurance

    * Flexble benefits, including holiday purchase

    * Employee Assistance Programme and exclusive discounts

    * Free secure on-site parking
