How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Sliding Head CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator

    £19 - 21 per hour DOE

Enjoy solving machining challenges and taking a component from drawing to finished part?

We're recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Sliding Head CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator.

This role offers the opportunity to:

Use your skills across programming, setting and machining.

Put your ideas into practice by improving cycle times, tool performance and component quality.

Take ownership of producing precision components to close tolerances.

Stay hands-on with technically demanding machining work.

The opportunity as Sliding Head Machinist

You'll turn engineering drawings into accurate, finished components, choosing the tooling and machine setup needed to get the job right. Alongside programming and proving out new jobs, you'll refine existing programs, troubleshoot machining issues and keep production running efficiently.

    Your work will include:

Creating and editing CNC programs using G-code and/or offline CAM software.

Setting tooling, guide bushes and workholding, then proving out jobs.

Running sliding head lathes and adjusting offsets to maintain accuracy.

Checking dimensions and surface finish using micrometers, verniers and gauges.

Maintaining safe working practices throughout the machining process.

What you'll bring as Sliding Head Machinist

You'll have practical experience programming, setting and operating sliding head CNC lathes, with the confidence to interpret engineering drawings and produce components to tight tolerances.

We're looking for someone who understands tooling and machining processes, takes pride in accurate work and can identify improvements when a job could run better.

    Interested?

Apply with your CV. We'd welcome a conversation about your sliding head experience and what you're looking for in your next move.
