How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor – ELVS Package on behalf of a leading building services contractor, working across two flagship projects in the City of London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to take full commercial responsibility for two major Electronic Life Safety and Security (ELVS) packages, covering Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Security, Converged Network Systems (CNS), Smart Technologies and Master System Integrator (MSI).

You will play a key role in ensuring robust cost control, accurate financial forecasting and effective contract administration throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with project teams, clients and subcontractors to drive commercial performance.

    Key Responsibilities

Take full commercial ownership of two major ELVS packages, maintaining accurate commercial records, cost-value reconciliations (CVRs), forecasts, variations, interim valuations and final accounts.

Prepare and submit applications for payment, including detailed cost breakdowns by work package and discipline.

Manage contractual notices, including Early Warning Notices, Delay Notices and Extension of Time claims, in accordance with contract requirements.

Monitor project expenditure against budgets and programme milestones, producing monthly cost reports and identifying potential commercial risks and variances.

Work alongside Project Managers and Project Engineers to assess labour productivity, validate rates and review material costs for variation pricing.

Lead regular commercial reviews and forecasting meetings to ensure financial accuracy and transparency.

Liaise with clients, subcontractors and internal project teams to resolve commercial queries and agree contractual positions.

Attend site progress meetings and commercial workshops, providing financial updates and supporting effective decision-making.

Review project programmes to identify critical-path activities, key financial milestones and potential commercial implications.

Ensure valuations, variations and contractual notices are submitted in line with agreed programme deadlines.

    Essential Experience & Qualifications

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor managing multi-discipline ELVS or MEP packages.

Strong technical understanding of BMS, EMS, Security, CNS, Smart Technologies and/or MSI systems.

Good working knowledge of NEC3, NEC4 and/or JCT forms of contract.

Strong financial reporting, cost control and forecasting capabilities.

Experience using commercial software such as Asta, COINS or similar systems.

    Desirable Experience

Experience working on high-value, complex construction or building services projects within the City of London.

Knowledge of sustainable building systems and energy-efficient technologies.

Chartered status or membership of RICS, CIOB or an equivalent professional body.

    Skills & Attributes

Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong commercial awareness with exceptional attention to detail.

Confident communicator, capable of explaining complex commercial matters to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    Proactive, commercially minded and solutions-focused.

Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines across two major projects.

Collaborative approach, working effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, clients and external partners.

    Package & Working Arrangements

    Salary: £65,000–£75,000, depending on experience.

    Car Allowance: £5,000 per annum.

    Benefits: BUPA private healthcare.

Reporting to: Project Director and Commercial Manager.

    Working Hours: 08:00–17:00.

    Location: City of London.

Start Date: ASAP, subject to notice period.
