Our client is a refurbishment and fit-out company.
The role in brief
A hands-on health and safety and operations support position covering both the office and live projects. You’ll make sure company standards are understood, followed and consistently maintained, working closely with Directors, Contracts Managers, Site Managers and project teams. It’s not a desk-based admin job: you’ll be on site regularly, auditing, reporting and driving actions to close-out.
What you’ll do
* H&S and site assurance: Carry out site safety audits (ideally 1 to 2 days a week), write up the findings, and track corrective actions to completion. Challenge unsafe practices constructively and escalate persistent issues to the Directors. Champion the company’s H&S, environmental and welfare policies, and develop the H&S training programme, including in-house training.
* Policies and documentation: Keep company policies, procedures and H&S documentation current and understood. Support roll-out of updates, including new technology, and help select and deploy H&S management software for mobile use by staff and the supply chain. Make sure project records are filed and accessible, and give management feedback on gaps and recurring issues.
* Project and operations support: Help Contracts Managers set up and manage project files, prepare Construction Phase Plans, and maintain RAMS, inspection records and other site documentation. Assist with project set-up (welfare, signage, site controls) and general administrative and operational tasks.
* Reporting and continuous improvement: Provide regular management information on audit findings, risks and H&S performance. Maintain an action tracker showing overdue items. Contribute to a positive culture of accountability. Play a significant part in any move to ISO 9001, 18001 and 45001, and lead all SH&E and SSIP accreditation requirements.
* Business development: Support HSE aspects of prequalification and tendering.
We are looking for
* Confident, assertive and proactive, comfortable challenging standards and following actions through, without being adversarial
* Strong verbal and written communication, able to deal with clients, directors, subcontractors and operatives at every level
* Highly organised and methodical, able to juggle multiple priorities with a degree of autonomy
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and digital document management systems, with accurate record keeping
* Practical, solutions-focused and happy to work alongside site teams
* Risk-aware, protecting the business from exposure to poor practice at every stage from procurement to delivery
