Are you a Civil Engineer with experience on major infrastructure projects, looking to move into a senior client-side position?
Do you want a varied role where you can influence engineering decisions across a major construction programme, with opportunities to develop into railway systems and future project phases?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a major UK infrastructure programme, providing engineering oversight across a broad range of civil works, including structures, earthworks, highways and drainage.
You will work closely with contractors, project teams and technical specialists to ensure construction meets the required standards and is supported by the evidence needed for assurance and acceptance. Your remit will span multiple assets and work packages, giving you the opportunity to resolve complex issues and influence how engineering processes are applied across the programme.
The role would suit someone from a contractor, consultancy or client-side background who combines practical construction knowledge with technical assurance experience and commercial awareness. Experience across major rail, highways or comparable civil engineering projects would be relevant.
Based primarily from Milton Keynes, you will travel regularly to project offices and sites across the route. Hybrid working typically involves three days across offices and sites, including at least one site day, and two days working from home.
The Role:
* Providing client-side engineering oversight across structures, earthworks, highways and associated civil works.
* Leading technical assurance, reviewing contractor submissions and supporting construction compliance and acceptance.
* Managing complex engineering issues, technical queries, design changes and non-conformances.
* Working with project and commercial teams to assess the contractual, cost and programme implications of engineering decisions.
* Challenging contractors where requirements are not being met and coordinating appropriate solutions.
* Providing technical guidance and mentoring to Project Engineers.
* Permanent position with hybrid working and regular travel across project locations.
The Person:
* Civil engineering background with experience on major infrastructure or construction projects.
* Practical understanding of construction delivery, technical assurance and quality processes.
* Experience coordinating multiple engineering disciplines, assets or workstreams.
* Commercial awareness, ideally with knowledge of NEC contracts and CDM requirements.
* Confident managing stakeholders and resolving technical issues with contractors.
* Chartered status, relevant professional membership or equivalent experience.
* Driving licence and ability to travel regularly to Milton Keynes and project sites.
