How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Product Assurance Engineer – Product Testing & Compliance

    Location: Bolton
    Salary: Negotiable

    Overview:

Are you an engineering professional with experience in product testing, quality, compliance or technical documentation? Are you organised, technically minded and comfortable coordinating testing activities with engineers, suppliers and external test laboratories?
We’re looking for a Product Assurance Engineer to support product testing, technical assessments and certification activities, helping ensure products meet the required engineering specifications, testing requirements and customer expectations.
This opportunity would suit someone from an engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, product testing or technical compliance background who enjoys combining practical engineering knowledge with test coordination, problem-solving and accurate technical documentation.
Experience with fire doors, security doors or associated hardware would be beneficial, but is not essential.
    The Role:

Working alongside the Product Test & Assurance Manager, you’ll help plan and coordinate product testing activities, attend internal and external test facilities, and manage the technical records and reports required to support product assessment and certification.
You’ll work closely with Engineering, Production, Projects, Quality, suppliers and external testing organisations, ensuring test activities are properly prepared, progress is tracked and all supporting evidence is accurate, complete and controlled.
    Key Responsibilities:

Product testing: Support the planning, coordination and delivery of product tests and technical assessment activities.
Test coordination: Arrange test bookings, product samples, transport, equipment, site access, documentation and attendance.
Engineering documentation: Check that drawings, technical specifications, build records and product configurations are available and accurate before testing.
Test attendance: Attend internal and external test facilities, support agreed test plans and record observations, photographs, results and follow-up actions.
Stakeholder management: Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, project teams, suppliers, test houses and certification or assessment bodies.
Reporting and documentation: Review draft test reports for factual accuracy, coordinate comments and approvals, and maintain controlled records.
Progress tracking: Maintain test schedules, action logs and trackers, highlighting risks, delays or changes to the Product Test & Assurance Manager.
Product assurance: Help maintain the evidence required to demonstrate compliance with technical specifications, applicable standards and customer requirements.
Continuous improvement: Contribute to lessons learned and improvements following testing activities.
Travel to test facilities and occasional overtime will be required to support the testing programme.
You should be able to demonstrate:

An HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent practical experience. A degree is advantageous.
Experience in an engineering, manufacturing, product testing, quality, certification or technical compliance environment.
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, test plans and reports.
Experience coordinating activities involving suppliers, materials, equipment, transport or external facilities.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate technical records.
Confidence communicating with internal engineering teams and external suppliers, laboratories or assessment organisations.
The ability to manage schedules, maintain progress trackers and escalate risks or delays.
A full driving licence and flexibility to travel and work overtime when required.
    Desirable Experience:

Any of the following would be advantageous:
Product testing, certification or conformity assessment.
Fire doors, security doors, architectural hardware or associated products.
Knowledge of relevant product testing standards.
Manufacturing processes such as steel fabrication, welding and assembly.
Experience working with external test laboratories or certification bodies.
Technical document control and management of product compliance evidence.
You do not need to have experience in every area. Relevant transferable experience from another engineering or manufacturing sector will be considered.
    Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to develop your experience in product testing, assurance and certification while working across engineering, manufacturing and external assessment activities.

You’ll play an important part in ensuring testing is properly coordinated, technical evidence is accurate and products can demonstrate compliance with the required specifications and standards.

Interested? If you have an engineering background and enjoy practical testing, technical coordination and maintaining high standards of quality and documentation, we’d welcome your application.
