How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

My clients are currently seeking a Design Engineer to join their highly skilled Engineering Team, with an immediate requirement for one contractor and the potential for further opportunities.

Working within the Aviation & Aerospace Engineering sector, our preferred candidate should have the following skills and attributes:

    The successful candidate will:

Work as part of an experienced engineering team, undertaking mechanical design activities for gas turbine components and associated equipment. The role will involve creating models and assemblies using NX and Teamcenter, carrying out engineering calculations and producing design specifications, presentations and technical reports.

The successful candidate will have excellent NX CAD skills, a good understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to work reliably and collaboratively to deliver accurate, high-quality engineering designs.

What profile are we looking for?

Core Duties and Responsibilities will include:

    * Creating 3D models and assemblies using NX and Teamcenter.

    * Carrying out hand calculations to assess component integrity, bolted joints and tolerance stack-ups.

    * Designing interfaces, considering fit, form and function.

    * Carrying out Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).

    * Writing design specifications for new equipment and special processes.

    * Producing technical presentations and reports.

    * Working with engineering drawings, CAD files and associated workflows.

    * Supporting the delivery of design activities in line with engineering requirements and project deadlines.

    * Working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues and support design improvements.

It is essential that the successful candidate:

    * Has excellent NX CAD skills.

    * Has experience using Teamcenter, particularly with NX CAD files and associated workflows.

    * Has a good understanding of mechanical engineering principles.

    * Can carry out hand calculations for component sizing, bolted joints and tolerance stack-ups.

    * Has the ability to design interfaces, taking fit, form and function into consideration.

    * Has experience or knowledge of gas turbine components and gas turbine engineering.

    * Has the ability to carry out DFMEA.

    * Has good attention to detail and is reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.

It is desirable that the successful candidate:

    * Has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline. An HND or equivalent qualification may also be suitable.

    * Has experience with surfacing in NX.

    * Has experience carrying out stress calculations using ANSYS Workbench.

    * Has experience producing detailed engineering drawings.

    * Has experience working with fabrications.

    * Has experience designing assembly tools and lifting equipment, including consideration of CE marking requirements.

    * Has experience using Mathcad.

    * Has knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Who will I work with (in my team and in collaboration with other areas)?

You will work alongside experienced engineering professionals, contributing to mechanical design activities and supporting the development of gas turbine components and associated equipment. The role will require collaboration with other engineering disciplines to ensure designs meet technical requirements and are delivered to the required standards.

    What are the working hours?

The role will operate on regular day shifts, with standard working hours of 40 hours per week. There is the potential to work from home two days per week and from the office three days per week.
