How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Lead fault finding, breakdown response and planned software maintenance across plant controls and instrumentation.

    * Deliver controls input for modifications, new installations and small projects, including design, testing, commissioning and integration.

    * Act as the software and controls subject-matter expert in Management of Change, HAZOP and process hazard reviews.

    * Support E&I technicians, project teams and contractors, ensuring work is safe, compliant and maintainable.

    * Maintain the industrial controls infrastructure, including servers, networks, databases, backups, data replication and cyber-security controls.

    * Apply recognised standards for alarm management and safety-related control functions.

    * Interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings and help select appropriate controls equipment.

    * Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota.

    What you’ll bring

    * A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent recognised qualification in electronics, controls or a related discipline.

    * Extensive experience of Allen Bradley and ideally Omron as well as experience working on SCADA platforms such as Wonderware, InTouch or Ignition

    * Practical PLC and SCADA experience in a software or controls role within a large scale manufacturing, chemical or process plant environment.

    * Experience of industrial network infrastructure, architecture and administration.

    * Working knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Active Directory, terminal services, thin-client architecture and Microsoft licensing.

    * Ability to read and understand electrical and instrumentation drawings.

    * A sound understanding of environmental, health and safety management principles, with the ability to plan and prioritise your own workload.

The role is based in the Hertfordshire and is primarily office based, with regular access to operational areas. Relocation package/assistance will be provided for candidates who are willing to relocate. There is potential that Sponsorship is available for the right candidate
