Shifts: 6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm / 10pm–6am
The Opportunity
An established manufacturing business is entering an exciting phase of growth, with ambitious plans to double in size over the next two years. We’re looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to help keep production running reliably and support the next stage of the site’s development.
Joining a newly structured maintenance team under a new Maintenance Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to make a visible difference—improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime and helping build a more proactive approach to maintenance.
The role combines mechanical and electrical repairs, and engineers with either a mechanical or electrical bias are welcome to apply. You’ll need a willingness to work across both disciplines and develop your broader maintenance skills.
The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll maintain a varied range of production equipment, including injection moulding machines, ultrasonic welders, robotics, conveyors and automated assembly lines.
Key responsibilities will include:
*
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, getting production running again safely and efficiently.
*
Carry out planned and preventative maintenance, helping develop and improve maintenance schedules.
*
Investigate recurring faults and implement lasting fixes that reduce unplanned downtime.
*
Troubleshoot issues involving sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, drives and PLC-controlled equipment, according to your skills and experience.
*
Support machine set-ups, changeovers, tooling changes and equipment installation and commissioning.
*
Record breakdowns, causes and repairs to help identify trends and prevent repeat failures.
*
Help identify critical spares and ensure replacement parts are available when needed.
*
Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and the Mould Shop to maintain output and product quality.
*
Contribute ideas and practical improvements that increase equipment reliability, efficiency and safety.
*
Follow safe isolation, lock-out and permit procedures.
About You
We’re looking for a practical engineer who enjoys fault-finding, takes ownership of problems and wants to help improve how a manufacturing site operates.
Ideally, you will have:
*
Maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
*
A mechanical or electrical engineering background, with some experience or confidence working across the other discipline.
*
A recognised engineering qualification, time-served apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
*
Strong diagnostic skills and a methodical approach to finding the root cause of faults.
*
Experience with automated machinery, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors or drive systems.
*
A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
*
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production colleagues.
*
A willingness to work the stated shift pattern.
Experience with injection moulding, ultrasonic welding or robotics would be advantageous, but engineers from other manufacturing sectors are encouraged to apply.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a growing business where engineering will play a key role in supporting increased production and future expansion.
You’ll benefit from:
*
£40,000–£45,000 basic salary, with shift allowance paid on top.
*
A varied technical role working with automation, robotics and precision manufacturing equipment.
*
The chance to help shape a newly structured maintenance function.
*
Scope to move beyond reactive repairs and contribute to lasting reliability improvements.
*
Support to develop your skills and progress within the team.
*
A role where your ideas and practical contribution can make a clear difference.
If you’re a mechanically or electrically biased Maintenance Engineer looking for a varied role within a growing manufacturer, we’d like to hear from you
