How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a creative and enthusiastic Chemistry Teacher who enjoys sparking curiosity and inspiring the next generation of scientists?

Would you love to join a friendly, ambitious secondary school in Southwark where you can make Science memorable while feeling supported by a collaborative team?

-Full-time or part-time working patterns considered (Flexible)
-Friendly, collaborative Science department with professional learning support
-Perkbox rewards and discounted gym memberships for eligible employees
-Central Southwark location with exciting enrichment opportunities

Martin at Education 365 is delighted to be speaking with Chemistry specialists about a lovely maternity-cover opportunity at a welcoming secondary school in Southwark, starting in March 2027.

We would love to hear from warm, energetic and dedicated teachers who can inspire pupils through engaging experiments, thoughtful explanations and a genuine enthusiasm for all things Chemistry.

As a Chemistry Teacher, you will plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a particular focus on Chemistry alongside the wider Science curriculum. You will support progress through assessment and feedback, adapt teaching for different needs and contribute to enrichment and departmental planning.

The school is particularly interested in practitioners with sound Chemistry subject knowledge, strong classroom management and an ability to help students develop scientific curiosity, confidence and analytical thinking. Experience with curriculum development or practical Science activities would be highly welcomed.

Both Early Career Teachers and experienced Science Teachers are warmly encouraged to apply. You should hold QTS or a recognised teaching qualification and be excited about becoming part of a supportive department where colleagues share ideas and celebrate pupil achievement.

With the maternity-cover placement planned from March 2027 to March 2028, we are speaking with interested candidates now to understand your experience, availability and preferred working pattern.

Applicants should be approachable, organised and committed to safeguarding, inclusive teaching and student wellbeing, with the right to work in the UK. The annual salary shown is the school's published full-time-equivalent scale; any agency PAYE rate would be agreed separately.

If you are looking for an exciting Chemistry Teacher opportunity in Southwark, please apply today or contact Martin at Education 365 for a friendly, informal and confidential conversation about the role
