How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (1-hour lunch)

    Working Pattern: Fully office based

    The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced and confident Finance Manager to join a busy and growing Group based in Newport.

This is a hands-on, challenging role where you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the finance function across six companies within the Group, with a combined turnover of approximately £50 million.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will oversee a team of seven and play a key role in ensuring the finance department operates effectively, deadlines are met and accurate financial information is produced and presented to the FD.

This role would suit a strong people manager who is confident communicating with colleagues across the business, enjoys a fast-paced environment and has previous experience managing a finance team.

    Key Responsibilities

Manage and support a team of transactional staff, ensuring workloads are effectively managed, deadlines are met and any issues, errors or queries are identified and escalated appropriately.

Oversee the finance function across six companies within the Group, ensuring a consistent and accurate approach to financial processes and reporting.

Collate financial information from across the Group, review the figures and present accurate management information to the Finance Director.

Produce a detailed weekly margin analysis, collating large volumes of data and presenting the information in a clear and accessible format.

Manage the day-to-day cash flow across six companies, ensuring drawdowns are completed in a timely manner and sufficient funds are available to meet payment requirements.

Support the team with the management of aged creditors and aged debtors, assisting with queries relating to both sales and purchase invoices.

Ensure all journals, accruals and prepayments are accurately posted across the six companies in preparation for month end.

Maintain fixed asset registers in line with the balance sheet and post monthly depreciation for the relevant Group companies.

Manage hire purchase schedules, ensuring they are kept fully up to date and posting monthly interest journals.

Complete profit and loss reviews to ensure management accounts are accurate, reliable and provide meaningful information to the business.

Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.

Manage the annual audit process, coordinating the team and delegating tasks to ensure information and responses are provided accurately and within required timescales.

Produce a weekly availability report, incorporating expected receipts and payments for the following week.

Work closely with the Finance Director and wider management team, providing financial insight and supporting effective decision-making.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and the overall efficiency of the finance function.

You will be expected to provide strong leadership and support to the team, whilst also remaining hands-on and involved in the detail when required.

    About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced finance professional with previous team management experience and a strong understanding of month-end processes, management accounts and financial reporting.

    You will be:

An experienced Finance Manager or Senior Finance professional with proven experience managing a team.

A confident and personable communicator who enjoys working with and supporting people.

Comfortable managing competing priorities within a busy and challenging finance environment.

Highly organised, with the ability to manage deadlines across multiple companies.

Confident reviewing financial information and identifying discrepancies or areas requiring further investigation.

Comfortable presenting financial information to senior management and the Finance Director.

Experienced across management accounts, cash flow, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes.

A strong Excel user with experience using Sage 200 or a similar finance system.

Someone who enjoys being hands-on whilst also taking ownership of the wider finance function.

A natural problem solver with a proactive approach and strong attention to detail.

    Benefits will include –

Holiday: 20 days plus bank holidays, increasing with service

    Pension: Statutory pension scheme

Systems: Sage 200, alongside other finance and reporting systems

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking for a busy, varied and challenging Finance Manager position, where you will have genuine responsibility across a £50m+ Group and work closely with the Finance Director
