How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HV Commissioning Engineer
Stourbridge base, UK travel with overnight stays
    Around £70,000 + Company Van + Accommodation & Expenses + 26 Days Holiday + Pension + Private Healthcare

Excellent opportunity for an experienced HV Commissioning Engineer to join an established, close-knit electrical infrastructure business with a strong pipeline of work and the opportunity to play a key role in its continued growth.

The business is looking to expand its commissioning team with someone who can independently deliver HV switchgear testing and commissioning across a varied portfolio of projects nationwide. You'll have genuine ownership of your work, access to further training where desired, and the chance to join a business that values its people, offers flexibility and recognises those who make a real contribution.

The role involves nationwide travel, with overnight stays during the working week. A company van is provided, with accommodation and travel expenses covered, alongside paid door-to-door travel.

    The Role:
    * Carry out hands-on testing and commissioning of HV switchgear and associated electrical equipment
    * Perform electrical testing, fault-finding and verification to ensure equipment is ready for safe energisation
    * Work across a variety of sites and projects nationwide, taking responsibility for delivering commissioning activities independently
    * Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications to complete commissioning work
    * Produce test results, commissioning reports and associated technical documentation
    * Work closely with the existing commissioning team to deliver projects safely and effectively
    * Access further training and development opportunities depending on your experience and interests

    The Person:
    * Proven hands-on experience testing and commissioning HV switchgear
    * Experience working on HV substations and associated electrical equipment
    * Able to carry out testing and commissioning independently, rather than primarily assisting other engineers
    * Strong practical knowledge of HV equipment, electrical testing and fault-finding
    * Able to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
    * Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
    * Comfortable travelling nationwide and staying away from home during the working week

This is a great opportunity to join a growing business with a supportive, close-knit culture where people are valued and individual contributions are recognised. With a varied workload, genuine responsibility, paid travel and overtime, and opportunities to develop your technical skills, this role offers the chance to build a long-term future within an established electrical infrastructure team
