How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Due to continued expansion, we are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Contracts Department, working on high-quality residential and commercial glazing projects across the Home Counties and the South of England.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a background in glazing, façade, steel, joinery, or another specialist subcontracting trade to join an established and growing business.

    The Role

Working closely with a team of Project Managers, you will take commercial responsibility for multiple projects ranging in value from £50,000 to £2 million.

You will manage projects commercially from order placement through to site completion and final account, working closely with our design, procurement and site installation teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, commercially successfully and to a high standard.

The role will be based at our head office in Amersham, with occasional attendance at site and project meetings as required.

    Key Responsibilities

    · Take full commercial responsibility for multiple projects, including preparation of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), cash-flow/income tracking and sales invoicing.

    · Monitor project costs, revenue and profitability throughout the contract lifecycle.

    · Record, assess, negotiate and price variations and additional works.

    · Prepare, negotiate and approve supplier and subcontractor orders.

    · Review and approve supplier and subcontractor invoices upon completion of works.

    · Liaise with clients, architects, main contractors and other project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

    · Maintain accurate commercial records and provide written project updates through our internal CRM system.

    · Prepare and issue required health and safety documentation using our in-house templates.

    · Attend site and project meetings where required.

    · Work closely with Project Managers, Design, Procurement and Site Installation teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully.

    · Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.

    · Report regularly to the Head of Contracts on project performance, commercial risks and opportunities.

    Essential Requirements

    · A Quantity Surveying or Construction qualification, to a minimum of HNC/HND level.

    · A minimum of 6 years’ experience within the glazing industry or a related specialist subcontracting trade.

    · Strong commercial and financial management experience within the construction industry.

    · Ability to read, understand and interpret CAD/technical drawings, with confidence discussing technical details with architects and main contractors.

    · Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

    · Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

    · Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.

    · Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.

    · A proactive and commercially focused approach, with strong attention to detail.

    · Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Full training will be provided on our glazing systems, internal CRM, accounting and programming systems.

    What We Offer

    · £45,000–£60,000 salary, depending on experience.

    · Project bonus scheme in addition to your basic salary.

    · 21 days’ annual leave, increasing to 25 days, plus statutory bank holidays.

    · Company pension scheme.

    · Healthcare scheme available after one year of employment.

    · The opportunity to work on high-quality residential and commercial glazing projects.

    · A supportive working environment with close collaboration between Contracts, Design, Procurement and Site teams.

    · Opportunity to develop your career within a growing specialist contractor.

    About the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a commercially astute and experienced Quantity Surveyor who understands the demands of specialist subcontracting and can confidently manage projects from order through to final account.

You should be comfortable dealing with clients, main contractors, architects, suppliers and subcontractors, while maintaining strong commercial control and attention to detail across multiple live projects.

If you have a background in specialist glazing, façades, steel, architectural metalwork, joinery or a similar subcontracting environment, we would be particularly interested in hearing from you
