How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you an experienced and passionate Social Worker looking to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and young people in care?

City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking a dedicated Senior Social Worker to join its Children and Young People in Care Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is committed to achieving positive outcomes for children, supporting permanence planning, and ensuring every child receives the care, stability and opportunities they deserve.

Offering a competitive £33.30 per hour Umbrella, in line with MOU rates, this agency position provides the opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking local authority committed to high-quality practice and relationship-based social work.

    The Role

You will be responsible for driving care planning, permanence arrangements and safeguarding interventions, ensuring that children and young people are supported to achieve the best possible outcomes.

You will work closely with children, families, foster carers, residential providers, health professionals, education services and partner agencies to ensure that children in care receive effective support and stability throughout their journey.

This role requires a confident practitioner who can manage complex cases, demonstrate excellent assessment and analytical skills, and provide support and guidance to less experienced colleagues when required.

    Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of children and young people in care, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.
Complete high-quality assessments, care plans, pathway plans and statutory reports.
Promote permanence planning through reunification, long-term fostering, special guardianship or adoption where appropriate.
Build meaningful relationships with children and young people, ensuring their voices are central to all decision-making.
Undertake direct work with children and families to improve outcomes and promote stability.
Participate in Looked After Child Reviews and other statutory meetings.
Work collaboratively with foster carers, residential providers and partner agencies.
Assess and manage risk, ensuring children remain safeguarded and protected.
Support young people preparing for independence and transition into adulthood.
Maintain accurate and timely case recordings in line with legislation, policy and best practice standards.
Provide mentoring and support to newly qualified or less experienced social workers where appropriate.
Contribute to service development and the continuous improvement of practice standards.

    About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

    Social Work England registration.
A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).
Significant post-qualified experience within Children's Services.
Experience working with Children in Care / Looked After Children.
Strong knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance and safeguarding procedures.
Experience of court work and permanence planning would be advantageous.
Excellent assessment, report writing and communication skills.
The ability to build effective relationships with children, families and professionals.
A commitment to achieving outstanding outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

    What's on Offer?
