How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Design Manager - Heathrow

Experienced Design Manager required by this major Tier One contractor to join a significant £130m+ redevelopment at Heathrow Terminal 4.

The project involves the phased redevelopment of a large multistorey car park, comprising a steel frame and concrete decks, with works including refurbishment, partial demolition and rebuilding following historic fire damage.

The programme is expected to run for approximately five years across 5-6 phases, with sections of the car park remaining operational throughout. The first phase comprises refurbishment works and is due to start on site before Christmas 2026.

Working alongside an established Senior Design Manager, you will take responsibility for the design of designated phases through construction delivery. The role will have a strong technical and buildability focus, coordinating consultants and subcontractor design while ensuring information is developed and released in line with programme and procurement requirements.

    /

    Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

You will have a strong technical understanding, excellent attention to detail and a good understanding of contractor-side design and construction processes.

Experience managing consultants, subcontractor design, buildability, design programmes, information release, procurement interfaces and compliance will be particularly relevant.

Previous Tier One, airport or car park experience is not essential. Candidates may come from main contracting, consultancy, architectural or engineering backgrounds, while those from specialist subcontractors with strong experience working alongside major contractors will also be considered.

An engineering background would be advantageous, although candidates from other technically strong construction backgrounds will also be considered.

The role is based four days per week at Heathrow Terminal 4, so candidates should be within a realistic daily commuting distance.

Package of up to £80,000 for the right person, plus car/car allowance and project bonus
