How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Contracts Manager - Water & Wastewater Infrastructure

    Salary: £90,000-£110,000 + package

    Job type: Permanent, full-time

    Location: Southern England

    The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to take a leading role in the delivery of a major water and wastewater infrastructure programme across the South of England.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established Contracts Manager with a background in water, wastewater, utilities or civil engineering to join a high-performing infrastructure operation in a senior, permanent position.

You will have responsibility for overseeing contract delivery, leading operational teams, managing client relationships and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, to programme and within agreed commercial targets.

With a salary of £90,000-£110,000 plus an attractive benefits package, this role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within an essential infrastructure sector.

    Key responsibilities

Take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of the contract.

Lead, motivate and develop project and operational teams to achieve programme objectives.

Oversee planning, programming, resource allocation and the coordination of multiple workstreams.

Manage contract budgets, costs, financial performance and commercial risks.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with the client, subcontractors, suppliers and other key stakeholders.

Monitor project progress, performance and productivity, implementing corrective actions where required.

Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental requirements, quality standards and contractual obligations.

Manage contract variations, change control and contractual matters, including NEC processes where applicable.

Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, delivery standards and commercial performance.

Provide clear reporting on programme progress, financial performance, risks and key performance indicators.

Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

    About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong combination of technical knowledge, commercial awareness and leadership experience.

    You will ideally have:

Proven experience as a Contracts Manager, or in a comparable senior operational management position.

A strong background in water and wastewater infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering.

Experience managing complex contracts, multiple projects and multidisciplinary teams.

A sound understanding of contract administration, commercial controls, budgets and programme management.

Experience working with NEC forms of contract and managing contractual change.

Excellent client-facing, communication and stakeholder-management skills.

The ability to lead teams, make effective decisions and resolve operational challenges.

A strong commitment to health and safety, quality and environmental standards.

Relevant construction or civil engineering qualifications, with appropriate professional or safety accreditations.

    What's on offer?

    £90,000-£110,000 salary, depending on experience.

    Attractive additional benefits package.

    Permanent employment.

A senior position with significant responsibility and influence over contract performance.

The opportunity to contribute to essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

The chance to lead teams and support the continued successful delivery of a major infrastructure programme.

    Apply now

If you are an experienced Contracts Manager looking for your next permanent opportunity in the water, wastewater or civil engineering sector, we would welcome a confidential conversation.

Apply today with your CV to discuss the opportunity and find out more about the role and package.

My recommendation: Use the LinkedIn post to attract passive candidates and encourage confidential DMs. For CV-Library, the detailed advert will help candidates assess their suitability before applying.

I have deliberately left out specific qualifications as hard requirements and avoided naming the employer or water company, so the advert can be used without unnecessarily narrowing the candidate pool or revealing the assignment.
