How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you an experienced tax professional looking for an opportunity to take ownership of tax compliance and reporting within a growing organisation?

We're looking for a Group Tax Manager to join Exemplar Health Care and become our first dedicated in-house tax specialist.

Reporting to the Deputy CFO, you'll take responsibility for Exemplar Health Care's tax compliance, reporting and governance activities, ensuring we meet our tax obligations accurately and efficiently. You'll work closely with colleagues across Finance, HR and Payroll, Property, Legal and Operations, providing practical tax advice and helping strengthen internal ownership of tax matters.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys combining hands-on compliance work with business partnering and advisory support in a complex, multi-entity organisation.

    Please note:

This is a hybrid role, with regular attendance required at our Support Centre in Sheffield. Occasional travel to other locations may also be required.

We'd love to hear from candidates currently working within practice or industry who are looking to take the next step in their tax career and make a meaningful impact within a growing organisation.

    About the role

Your day to day will be varied, with overall responsibility for supporting Exemplar Health Care's tax compliance, reporting and governance activities.

This may include but not be limited to:

    * preparing and submitting corporation tax computations and returns

    * managing corporation tax payments, forecasting and cash tax reporting

    * preparing current and deferred tax calculations, provisions and statutory accounts disclosures

    * overseeing employment tax compliance and providing advice on PAYE, benefits, expenses and off-payroll working matters

    * maintaining the Group tax compliance calendar and ensuring all returns, claims, elections and payments are completed accurately and on time

    * managing relationships with HMRC and supporting responses to tax enquiries

    * providing practical tax advice to colleagues across Finance, HR and Payroll, Property, Legal and other business functions

    * supporting transactions, property activity, capital expenditure projects and corporate restructuring from a tax perspective

    * overseeing VAT and other indirect tax matters across the Group

    * identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen tax governance and maximise available tax reliefs

    * managing relationships with external tax advisers and coordinating specialist support where appropriate.

For full details about the role and responsibilities, please download and read the Job Description and Person Specification.

    About you

    You'll have:

    * ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualification

    * strong UK corporate tax experience, including preparing or reviewing corporation tax computations and returns

    * experience of tax accounting, including current and deferred tax and statutory accounts disclosures

    * experience managing tax compliance deadlines, payments and reporting requirements

    * excellent technical knowledge combined with strong commercial awareness

    * the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to non-tax specialists

    * experience building relationships and influencing stakeholders across different business functions

    * strong organisation skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Most importantly, you'll be proactive, solutions-focused and confident working independently while building trusted relationships across the wider business.

    Why join us?

Exemplar Health Care supports adults living with complex needs across more than 60 care homes throughout England. We employ over 5,000 colleagues who help make every day better for the people we support.

You'll join a growing and ambitious organisation where you'll have the opportunity to shape and develop our in-house tax capability, work closely with senior stakeholders and make a genuine impact.
