Salary: £60,000–£75,000 per annum, depending on experience
Location: UK -flexible base with regular national travel
Organisation: Private Equity-Backed - National Multi-Site Business - Growth & Transformation
A business growing at pace. A leadership team with ambition. An opportunity to make a genuine difference.
HPRtalent is partnering with an ambitious, private equity-backed UK services organisation to appoint an exceptional Senior HR Business Partner.
This is a business entering an exciting phase of its development. With an established national footprint, a diverse customer base and a clear strategy for both organic and acquisition-led growth, the organisation is focused on strengthening its leadership capability, developing its people and building the infrastructure required to support its next chapter.
The ambition is significant. So too is the opportunity for an accomplished HR professional to influence what comes next.
We are looking for a commercially astute, operationally credible and strategically capable Senior HR Business Partner who can work alongside senior leaders to shape the people agenda, challenge established thinking and help build a high-performing, future-ready organisation.
This is not a role for someone who wants to deliver HR from the sidelines.
We need someone who will get underneath the business, understand its operational complexities, build meaningful relationships with leaders and translate business priorities into tangible people outcomes.
The opportunity
Working closely with senior operational and functional leadership teams, you will act as a trusted adviser, coach and constructive challenger.
You will have the opportunity to influence organisational design, leadership capability, succession planning, employee engagement and the people implications of a business pursuing an ambitious growth strategy.
The environment is dynamic, commercially driven and evolving. Priorities can change quickly, decisions are made at pace and there is a genuine expectation that HR will contribute to business performance rather than simply provide a support function.
You will need to be equally comfortable developing a strategic workforce plan, challenging a senior leader on organisational effectiveness, supporting a complex employee relations matter or spending time with frontline teams to understand what is really happening operationally.
What you will be responsible for
Strategic Business Partnering & Commercial Performance
Build trusted, influential relationships with senior leaders, developing a deep understanding of their commercial priorities, operational challenges and growth ambitions.
Translate business strategy into clear, practical people plans that support revenue growth, operational effectiveness, profitability and organisational resilience.
Provide thoughtful, evidence-based challenge, ensuring people decisions are commercially sound and support long-term business performance.
Use workforce data, trends and insight to identify opportunities, anticipate risks and influence decision-making.
Help leaders understand the relationship between workforce capability, productivity, employee engagement, retention and customer delivery.
Organisational Design, Growth & Transformation
Partner leaders to assess current organisational structures, capability and ways of working against the requirements of the future business.
Lead and support organisational design initiatives, ensuring structures, responsibilities and accountabilities are fit for purpose.
Support business transformation, restructuring and change programmes with a clear focus on communication, engagement and successful implementation.
Contribute to the people aspects of acquisitions and integration, including organisational alignment, cultural considerations, talent retention and leadership capability.
Help build scalable people practices that support growth without losing the pace and entrepreneurial qualities that make the organisation successful.
Leadership Development & Talent
Coach and challenge leaders to strengthen their people management capability, decision-making and leadership effectiveness.
Identify capability gaps and work with stakeholders to develop practical solutions.
Drive succession planning and talent identification, ensuring the organisation is developing the leaders it will need tomorrow.
Support the development of high-potential talent and stronger internal progression pathways.
Build a culture of accountability, constructive feedback, high performance and continuous improvement.
Employee Relations, Culture & Engagement
Provide expert, pragmatic guidance on complex employee relations matters, balancing legal compliance, fairness, commercial considerations and organisational values.
Build management confidence in handling performance, conduct, absence and employee relations issues effectively.
Support initiatives that improve employee engagement, retention and the employee experience.
Work with leaders to understand cultural differences across teams and acquired businesses, helping develop a cohesive organisation while retaining the strengths of individual operations.
Ensure policies and people practices are consistently applied, practical and appropriate for a geographically dispersed workforce.
Operational Partnership
Maintain a visible presence across the business, building relationships with operational managers and frontline teams.
Understand the realities of field-based service delivery, including workforce planning, management capability, productivity and retention challenges.
Work directly with leaders to address people issues affecting operational performance.
Balance strategic HR priorities with the ability and willingness to become involved in practical, hands-on delivery when required.
Build credibility through sound judgement, responsiveness, ownership and a genuine understanding of how the business operates.
What we are looking for
You will already be operating as a credible, influential HR Business Partner, ideally within a commercially demanding, operationally complex organisation.
We are particularly interested in individuals with experience across facilities management, outsourced services, engineering, infrastructure, construction, logistics, property services, manufacturing or other multi-site, labour-intensive environments.
You will bring:
Significant experience in a senior HR Business Partnering role, supporting senior operational and functional leaders.
A strong commercial mindset and the ability to connect people strategy directly to business outcomes.
Proven experience of organisational design, workforce planning and organisational change.
Excellent coaching and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
Strong employee relations expertise and sound knowledge of UK employment legislation.
Experience supporting geographically dispersed, operational or field-based workforces.
A track record of improving leadership capability, talent development and organisational effectiveness.
The ability to move comfortably between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery.
Confidence working in a fast-paced environment where ambiguity, change and competing priorities are part of everyday business.
CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent professional expertise.
Experience of private equity-backed organisations, acquisition integration or significant business transformation would be particularly valuable.
The person behind the experience
Qualifications and technical expertise matter, but this appointment is equally about judgement, personality and impact. You will likely be degree educated with a passion for continuous development.
We are looking for someone with the confidence to sit alongside senior executives as a genuine business partner, but without the ego or hierarchy that can sometimes accompany senior HR roles.
Someone who is curious about the business, asks intelligent questions and is prepared to challenge when something doesn't make commercial or organisational sense.
You will be resilient, approachable and highly credible, with the ability to build relationships across every level of an organisation.
You will enjoy the pace and energy of a growing business, recognise that not everything will be perfectly structured and see that as an opportunity to make things better.
Above all, you will understand that exceptional HR Business Partnering is not measured by the number of initiatives delivered, but by the difference it makes to leadership, people and business performance.
Why this opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a business at a genuinely interesting point in its development.
With private equity investment, a clear growth agenda and the opportunity to expand through acquisition, there is considerable scope to influence how the organisation evolves.
You will work with ambitious senior leaders, contribute to meaningful organisational decisions and play an important role in creating the capability, culture and leadership strength required for the next stage.
For an HR professional who wants influence, variety, pace and the opportunity to make a visible commercial impact, this is a compelling next step.
