How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Do you want to make a real difference in your community?

At South Norfolk and Broadland Councils, we are passionate about supporting residents to live healthier, happier and more independent lives. We're looking for a compassionate and proactive Community Connector / Social Prescriber to join our established and highly regarded Help Hub service.

The Help Hub brings together a wide range of Council services, over 20 voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations, and key statutory partners including Adult Social Care, the NHS, Children's Services and the Police. Together, we work to improve the social, physical, emotional and financial wellbeing of local residents, helping people access the support they need to thrive.

    About the Role

As a Community Connector / Social Prescriber, you will work directly with residents to understand what matters most to them and identify opportunities to improve their wellbeing and quality of life.

You will receive referrals from a variety of sources and undertake person-centred assessments to identify strengths, needs and potential support options. Working closely with individuals and their families, you will help connect people to local services, community resources and specialist support.

A key part of the role will involve developing and maintaining strong relationships with a broad range of statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for residents. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and interventions.

The role will include delivering a small number of social prescribing sessions within local GP practices.

    About You

You will be a compassionate and resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting people to improve their wellbeing. You will have experience of working with individuals who may be experiencing distress or challenging circumstances, alongside a working knowledge of common health conditions, substance misuse issues and the benefits system. An understanding of the impact that social disadvantage can have on health and wellbeing is essential.

You will be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with residents, families and partner organisations. We are looking for someone who demonstrates curiosity, empathy and a person-centred approach, is confident working collaboratively across a range of services, and can adapt to the diverse needs of the people they support.

The ability to travel independently to multiple locations is required for this role. Above all, you'll bring personal resilience, a positive outlook and a good sense of humour, helping you thrive in a rewarding role where no two days are the same.

    Closing Date: 18th October 2026

    Interview Date: To be confirmed

    Why Join Us?

We offer flexible working hours for most office-based roles, allowing for a healthy work-life balance. As part of our team, you will enjoy a range of employee benefits, including free onsite parking, employee discounts, a competitive holiday allowance, wellbeing initiatives, and the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.

You will be joining a progressive and supportive organisation that is committed to making a positive impact on the communities we serve.

The Councils reserve the right to close any and all vacancies at any time if there is judged to be a sufficient number of applications received.

South Norfolk and Broadland Councils are committed to promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and all applicants must be willing to undergo appropriate checks for the position, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service
