How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are working with a leading Built Environment Consultancy, who are looking to welcome a Structural Engineer to their team in Cheltenham. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from smaller, local client-focused assignments to large, complex schemes across the UK and internationally, working with a varied client base. You’ll play an important role in delivering a wide range of structural engineering services, with opportunities to develop your technical expertise and progress towards professional chartership.

    Key Responsibilities include:

Prepare outline structural designs in line with client briefs.
Carry out detailed structural design calculations in accordance with Eurocodes, using the latest 3D design software.
Coordinate designs with other disciplines and specialists using BIM.
Assist in producing detailed design drawings and specifications for tender.
Carry out structural surveys of existing buildings and advise on potential issues.
Investigate and report on structural defects in buildings and other structures.
Review incoming and outgoing documentation, including contractors’ proposals.

    Skills and Experience Required
Experience in structural design, ideally including site experience within a construction environment.
A good understanding of structural behaviour and relevant regulatory requirements, including Eurocodes.
Experience using structural analysis and design software such as Tekla, MasterSeries, SCIA or TEDDS.
An understanding of sustainability considerations within structural design.
Strong report-writing skills and the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
A proactive, can-do attitude with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, clients and project partners.
