An exceptional Alternative Provision in the Burnley area (Woodlands School setting) is seeking an innovative, trauma-informed Primary 1:1 Teacher to start on Monday, 2nd November 2026.
This unique role involves providing bespoke 1:1 teaching for a primary-aged pupil who thrives through holistic, practical engagement. Your timetable blends core classroom-based learning with experiential and therapeutic modules, including outdoor education and equine-assisted learning/therapy.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored 1:1 primary curriculum instruction across literacy, numeracy, and topic work.
Seamlessly integrate outdoor activities and equine therapy sessions to support emotional regulation, sensory needs, and self-confidence.
Design multi-sensory, creative learning interventions adapted to the pupil's developmental stage and EHCP targets.
Establish a firm, trusting rapport using trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour de-escalation strategies.
Work collaboratively with class leaders, therapists, equine specialists, and pastoral teams to review progress and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification (Primary trained preferred; experienced Unqualified Teachers with exceptional SEND backgrounds considered).
Proven experience supporting primary pupils with SEMH, ASC, trauma, or complex barriers to learning within an Alternative Provision, PRU, or SEND setting.
Comfortable working in outdoor environments and around horses/equine therapy settings-a hands-on, practical mindset is essential.
Patient, emotionally resilient, and skilled at using non-confrontational de-escalation approaches.
Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to complete one prior to November).
