How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you a dedicated Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or Youth Support Worker skilled at establishing strong rapport and guiding young people toward academic and personal success?

A supportive secondary school in the Blackpool (FY postcode) area is seeking a proactive, reliable 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work directly with a male student requiring dedicated academic, social, and emotional guidance. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting in November, ideal for someone who thrives on building positive working relationships and offering consistent, calm mentorship.

    Key Responsibilities:

Deliver dedicated 1:1 support across the school day, both inside the classroom and during structured intervention sessions.

Act as a reliable mentor and positive role model to help build self-esteem, focus, and social engagement.

Employ proven de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches to maintain a settled, productive learning space.

Break down classroom tasks and tailor resources to match the student's learning pace and interests.

Maintain close feedback loops with the class teachers, SENCo, and pastoral team to track targets and progression.

    Who We Are Looking For:

Prior experience working 1:1 with young people in secondary schools, alternative provisions, sports mentoring, or youth work.

Strong understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), ADHD, ASC, or associated barriers to engagement.

A grounded, empathetic, and firm-yet-fair approach with excellent boundary-setting skills.

De-escalation training (e.g., Team-Teach, MAPA, or equivalent) is advantageous but not essential.

A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

    Position Benefits:

Regular, dependable hours: 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (term-time only, no weekends or late shifts).

Competitive daily rates: Paid weekly via PAYE with transparent holiday pay.

Professional development: Free access to accredited online CPD courses, including SEND strategies and safeguarding.

Supportive environment: Work alongside an experienced SENCo and dedicated pastoral team.

    How to Apply:

If you have the resilience, energy, and communication skills to provide vital 1:1 guidance and make a measurable impact, submit your CV today by clicking 'Apply Now'.
