How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Ready for a More Exciting Engineering Role?

Are you a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who enjoys variety, solving problems and working on something different every week? Would you like the opportunity to travel, develop specialist skills and significantly increase your earnings through overtime?

We're recruiting for an established and highly respected engineering manufacturer supplying innovative, high-performance mechanical systems to major businesses across the UK and internationally.

Their specialist equipment is used in a range of demanding environments, including large-scale distribution centres and specialist commercial sites.

They're now looking for a practical, motivated Maintenance Engineer to join their experienced team.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll travel to different customer sites across the UK, carrying out installations, maintenance and repairs on specialist equipment. With a wide range of working environments and engineering challenges, no two weeks will be the same.

    What You'll Be Doing

You'll be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of specialist mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment at customer sites throughout the UK.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    *

Installing and commissioning specialist mechanical systems and equipment.

    *

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.

    *

Diagnosing faults, replacing components and making mechanical adjustments.

    *

Working with mechanical drive systems, moving assemblies and associated equipment.

    *

Supporting installation projects and working alongside other engineers.

    *

Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

    *

Providing a professional service to customers, with technical support available from an experienced office-based team.

Full product-specific training will be provided, so you don't need previous experience with this particular equipment.

    What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a strong practical engineering background, a good work ethic and a willingness to learn.

    Essential:

    *

At least 1 year's experience in mechanical engineering, maintenance, mechanical fitting or a similar role.

    *

Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

    *

Confident using hand tools and working with mechanical equipment.

    *

    Full UK driving licence.

    *

Willingness to travel throughout the UK and stay away from home during the working week.

    *

Comfortable working in cold and temperature-controlled environments.

    *

Able to undertake physically demanding engineering activities, with reasonable adjustments where appropriate.

    *

A flexible, reliable approach and strong commitment to health and safety.

    *

Right to work in the UK.

    Desirable:

    *

    Time-served Mechanical or Maintenance Engineer.

    *

    Field service or installation experience.

    *

Experience with industrial machinery or automated systems.

    *

    Electrical or electro-mechanical knowledge.

    *

CSCS, IPAF, PASMA, SMSTS or plant operator qualifications.

    Travel & Working Conditions

This is a field-based position involving regular weekly stays away from home, travelling to customer sites across the UK, with occasional overseas opportunities.

The work is varied and physically active, and some projects take place in refrigerated environments. You'll be provided with a company van, specialist tools and all necessary PPE, including protective equipment for cold working conditions.

It's an ideal role for someone who enjoys being on the road, working practically and getting stuck into different projects.

Basic pay: £16 to £18 per hour, based on a standard working week of up to 39 hours.

With significant overtime available at enhanced rates, indicative annual earnings could reach £45,000 to £60,000+, depending on hours worked and applicable overtime rates.
