How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Engineer / Engineer required to join a global engineering business in Whitburn, working on specialist mechanical equipment and technical projects.

This opportunity would suit an experienced engineer or a Mechanical Design Engineer ready to step into a senior role. You will bring a strong technical foundation, enjoy solving engineering problems and be keen to take greater responsibility for designs and project delivery.

The role combines mechanical design, engineering analysis and working with customers and colleagues to deliver practical engineering solutions.

    The role

    You will:

    *

Produce and review engineering calculations, drawings, 3D models and technical reports.

    *

Use finite element analysis (FEA) to assess designs and support engineering decisions.

    *

Resolve design and engineering challenges throughout projects.

    *

Work with customers to understand requirements and discuss technical solutions.

    *

Coordinate with colleagues across the business to meet project deadlines.

    *

Prepare technical procedures, proposals and supporting documentation.

    *

Contribute to project meetings and provide clear progress updates.

    *

Identify engineering risks and work within relevant quality and safety procedures.

    What they are looking for

You will have a degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification, alongside relevant experience in mechanical engineering or design.

You should have practical experience of:

    *

    3D modelling software.

    *

    Finite element analysis (FEA).

    *

    Engineering calculations and design verification.

Experience with specialist mechanical equipment would be useful, although direct product experience is not essential. Engineers with transferable skills who are ready to develop and take on more technical responsibility are encouraged to apply.

You will also need good communication skills, the ability to manage your workload and a collaborative approach to working with customers and colleagues.

The position is hybrid and onsite in Whitburn, West Lothian
