12-Month Contract Hybrid Working
Taunton (Typically 3 Days Per Week On Site)
Target Start Date: November 2026
Your new company
Join a nationally significant public sector organisation that sits at the forefront of technology, data and customer-focused innovation. Operating across highly specialised and international markets, this organisation develops and delivers trusted products and services relied upon by customers where accuracy, quality and reliability are non-negotiable. As part of this growth, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead a strategically important portfolio of maritime and geospatial products, shaping product strategy, investment decisions and long-term commercial success.
Your new role
This is a rare opportunity for an established product leader with experience of digital maritime, hydrographic, navigation, mapping or geospatial products who wants to operate at the point where strategy, commercial performance and customer value converge. As Senior Product Manager, you will take ownership of a substantial portfolio of specialist digital products and services, defining its strategic direction while ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of customers operating in maritime, defence, shipping, navigation, geospatial and location-based markets. Working closely with senior leaders across the organisation, you will develop and execute portfolio strategies informed by customer insight, market intelligence, competitor activity and commercial opportunity. You will lead business case development for new product investment, sponsor major development initiatives and play a pivotal role in determining where future resources and investment should be directed. Beyond strategy, this role carries significant leadership responsibility. You will lead and develop a team of Product Managers, creating a high-performing product culture focused on innovation, commercial thinking and customer-centric decision making.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced Senior Product Manager, Product Lead or Head of Product with a proven track record of owning and growing digital maritime, hydrographic, geospatial, mapping, navigation or location intelligence products. Previous product management experience within these sectors is highly desirable and candidates from unrelated product backgrounds are unlikely to possess the specialist knowledge required for the role. The successful candidate will possess exceptional relationship-building skills and the ability to bring together multiple functions behind a shared vision. Experience delivering digital products and services within regulated, technical, data-driven or specialist industries would be highly advantageous. Above all, you will be a strategic thinker who enjoys solving complex problems, thrives in ambiguity and is motivated by the opportunity to deliver products that have meaningful impact on customers and the organisation alike.
What you'll get in return
This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-profile portfolio within an organisation investing heavily in innovation, product development and future growth. You will gain exposure to senior leadership, influence significant investment decisions and play a central role in shaping the organisation's future product strategy. Alongside a competitive day rate of £660 per day, you'll join a collaborative environment where product management is recognised as a critical business function and where your ideas, expertise and leadership will have genuine visibility and impact.
Additional information
The role is offered on a hybrid basis and candidates should expect to attend the organisation's headquarters in Taunton typically 3 days per week, or more when required. Travel and accommodation expenses associated with attendance at the office are not claimable.
