How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Greenwich, South East London

Job Title: Support Worker – Community Mental Health
    Salary: £28,937 per annum
    Hours: 37.5 hours per week
    Contract: Permanent
Location: Community Support in various locations across Royal Borough Greenwich

    About the Role

P&S Care & Support is recruiting a Flexible Support Worker on behalf of a client delivering community-based mental health services.

This role offers the opportunity to support adults experiencing mental health crises, helping them work towards recovery and maintain their independence within the community.

You will support individuals referred from mental health services and hospital settings, providing practical and emotional assistance as they work towards their personal recovery goals.

Support is tailored to each person's circumstances and may continue for up to eight weeks or longer, depending on individual needs.

The aim is to help people manage difficult periods, develop coping strategies and access the services and resources they need to move forward positively.

    Key Responsibilities

You will provide practical, social and emotional support to individuals in the community, helping them manage their day-to-day needs and work towards their recovery goals.

Responsibilities will include supporting people with housing-related matters, accessing welfare benefits, maintaining their accommodation, improving social inclusion and developing the confidence and skills needed to manage their lives more independently.

You will build positive working relationships with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties, helping them identify their needs and work towards agreed outcomes.

The role also involves working collaboratively with other professionals and external agencies to ensure individuals receive appropriate and coordinated support.

You will maintain accurate records, contribute to support planning and risk assessments, monitor progress and recognise when additional support or intervention may be needed.

Flexibility is important, as you may occasionally be required to provide cover across other services and locations.

    Working Pattern

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week on a flexible shift rota.

Although most shifts take place during daytime hours, you will also be required to work evenings and weekends according to service needs. Some shifts may extend beyond 5:00pm.

With reasonable notice, you may also be asked to provide cover across other support services.

    About You

We are looking for a compassionate, resilient and motivated individual who is committed to supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties.

You should have experience working with adults with mental health needs or within a similar support environment. Experience supporting people through periods of crisis, helping them access services and encouraging greater independence would be particularly valuable.

You will need excellent communication skills, the ability to establish positive professional relationships and a sensitive, non-judgemental approach.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently, manage their workload effectively and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

You should be comfortable working with individuals who may have complex needs and be able to recognise when someone requires additional support.

A flexible approach to working hours and locations is essential, alongside a commitment to safeguarding, accurate record-keeping and ongoing professional development.

    Benefits

The role offers a range of benefits, including:

    * Access to an employee benefits platform offering discounts, wellbeing support and online GP services.

    * Death-in-service benefit of twice your annual salary.

    * Workplace pension scheme, with automatic enrolment after three months.

    * 22 days' annual leave plus statutory bank holidays, increasing to 25 days after three years of continuous service.

    * Company sick pay after 12 months of continuous service.

    * Mandatory training and opportunities for professional development.

Please note: The employer is unable to offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

An enhanced DBS check, right-to-work checks and employment checks will be required.

    How to Apply

If you have relevant experience and are passionate about helping people experiencing mental health difficulties to work towards recovery, we would love to hear from you!
