How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

AOV Small Works Engineer – Remedials & Installations

Firetecnics Systems Ltd, which is part of Helix International Group Ltd is one of London’s most trusted LPCB-certified fire safety company, with one of the best reputations within the industry for over 35 years.

Expanding in London and serving the Property industry.

For over 35 years, we’ve been the trusted fire safety partner to residential and commercial property professionals, delivering fast, reliable solutions that ensure full compliance and complete peace of mind.

As a one-stop provider for everything from fire alarm installation to ongoing compliance management, we combine technical expertise with proactive, personalised service.

    The Opportunity

This is a hands on field role focused on the remedial, upgrade and installation of AOV and smoke-control systems across London and the South East.

You will work on a varied customer portfolio, delivering planned small works while developing your technical capability.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, can work independently on customer sites and wants the opportunity to broaden their expertise within smoke control and wider life safety systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Complete AOV and smoke control remedial, upgrade and small installation works.

    * Install and replace actuators, control panels, power supplies, detectors, interfaces, switches and associated equipment.

    * Carry out electrical alterations, cabling, containment and terminations.

    * Assist with fault-finding and diagnosis, escalating complex technical issues where appropriate.

    * Complete repairs and upgrades identified through servicing, surveys and investigations.

    * Support functional testing and commissioning following completed works.

    * Identify additional defects or remedial requirements while on site and report them accurately.

    * Maintain clear records of labour, materials and completed works.

    * Deliver work safely and professionally across occupied residential and commercial environments.

    * Undertake manufacturer and specialist training to broaden AOV and smoke-control capability.

    What we are looking for

    You should have:

    * Practical experience across AOV, smoke ventilation, electrical Small Works or installation.

    * Strong electrical installation and practical fault finding skills.

    * Experience installing, replacing or repairing AOV/smoke-control components.

    * Confidence working independently on planned remedial and installation works.

    * Relevant electrical qualifications or demonstrable technical competence.

    * Good customer communication and accurate reporting skills.

    * A strong approach to Health & Safety and quality.

    * Full UK driving licence.

Experience working with fire alarm systems and associated interfaces, including an understanding of how fire alarm cause and effect interacts with AOV and smoke-control systems, would be advantageous.

    Why Join Firetecnics?

This is an opportunity to join an established fire-safety specialist at a point where we are actively growing our in house AOV and smoke control capability.

    You will benefit from:

    * Company vehicle and fuel support

    * Manufacturer and specialist technical training

    * Exposure to a broad range of AOV and smoke control systems

    * Support from specialist commissioning expertise

    * Opportunity to develop into more advanced AOV, commissioning or technical responsibilities

    * The backing and wider opportunities of the Helix International Group

If you are an AOV, smoke-control or electrically skilled Small Works Engineer looking for greater technical variety and development, we would be keen to hear from you.
